As some of you may know, I finally sold the 2 buicks I had and bought a 1995 lexus gs300. Since the paint is single state the paint was real easy to buff out. The car currently has 3 coats of z5. After doing alot of photoshopping I thought this car would like nice if the rims were painted black to.

here was my process

Wash rims with ONR

Wetsand rims with 400grit sandpaper

Spray primer on rims(3 coats with 10minutes between each)

Sprayed Paint (3 coats with 10 minutes between each)

wait 1hour

Spray clear coat(3 coats with 10 minutes between each).

I didnt feel the need to polish out the rims n such, so with that being said..I present to you my new(used) car :woot2:

Definitely a different look! Personally, I would have left the outer lip unpainted.

That was my plan initially, but these style rims really dont have that big of a lip..so it woudlnt have looked right(atleast when i photoshopped it). But good thing is that if i do ever get bored ill just repaint them silver :D

Just like to say that no matter how much prep you did before spray painting the rims they will start to chip and flake then it will look bad. The only way to paint rims is either you powder coat then or paint them with epoxy based paints that will resist chipping or flaking, or just get black rims with machined lips.
