Hello all. I purchased a bumper and the advertised photos might have been a bit old / deceiving. The car is a 1994 RX-7, I believe its a single stage white. Upon unboxing the paint was severely stained and oxidized. I thought it would be a good test to try my hand at some paint correction. Started of with Megs blue clay, got some of the surface funk off but it still needed a lot of attention. Went to buff it tonight with M105 - orange pad - DA. After a few passes, the shine is starting to come back but the paint looks far from smooth. I even tried a pass of XMT Heavy Duty Swirl Remover #4 (heaviest I had) and the issues remain. Aside from a bunch of peppering, it looks to me like some corrosive liquid came in contact with the paint? All photos are after the buffer passes mentioned. I just saw I have a microfiber buffing pad & might give that a shot tomorrow for a little more cut. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks,
Chris
Here is a shot of the speckled paint (I am assuming from years of road debris)
Here is some of that liquid etching (dont mind the compound dots used to mark the second photo)
