Paint sealant and waxes

What do you like to use and why, what are some recommended products?

At our shop we currently use car brite fast wax for our wax. which has some cut to it and is overall a good wax imho

Because our shop is in house at a dodge dealership we use mopar paint sealant/fab and leather protectant. I find the paint sealant to be pretty good stuff. Mild gloss and good protection. Just looking for what else might be out there ..

Thanks

Most commonly used products:

Optimum Opti-Seal: Great durability, good looks, and a breeze to use.

HD Poxy: The best looking sealant I have ever used, looks incredibly wet and slick after use. Good durability but requires a curing time.

Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax: Something I use often when a client is looking primarily for protection over looks. Lasts a long time on not often washes vehicles, has a nice warm look to it.

Turbo Wax with Polycharger: New addition here, but seems to be a good product, that you can get a lot of use out of. Not sure about durability yet but I have never used a product that is as "reflective" when looking at it.

I used Carbrite stuff when I worked at a dealership, and I will tell you that once you try out some true professional products you will look back at the Carbrite stuff like a dog that just chewed up your favorite shoes. :)

Good, because before I retired, was Director of Sales and Technical Services for Automotive International, Inc, the provider of the Master Shield and some MoPar car care products since the early 80's.

Not much for the MoPar but all of Master Shield, and one of the biggest concerns we faced were dealer personel who would wipe on some silicone laced polish and then apply the sealant over the top. It would stop the bonding, it would not allow full cure etc.

I still have copies of the Chrysler Test Labs regarding the products, last date I have is 2007 and shows that the "protection" of the paint sealant is still there after over 2 years, of course just like the clearcoat would have, it can be marred as well, so may look bad, but the protection is there.

We were always testing other brands of products against the fabric protection and the leather/vinyl product and never found one that could beat either of them for true and honest protection.

Just some insight for you.

We use lots of the master shield paint/fab/leather products at our dealership. How do you like they're products ?

Because we use some much of the sealant from master shield i don't think it would be logical to sell opti-seal as it would reduce our paint seal income which is a ton. We sell dodge, chevy and kia so we paint seal lots of new cars. What other packages could be offered for opti-seal and what price point?

Also can HD products be bought in bulk ie like car brite or auto magic ?

As far as 3D HD products, it would depend on where the dealership is located, if a stocking distributor is close by.

The Master Shield Products are the same as the ValuGard products, just that the MS products are warrantied by Chrysler.

Your dealership should look hard at adding the rust preventative and undercoating that MS offers.

It is a growing business with the use of mag cloride these days on the roads.

There is information on this at ValuGard.net.

Same products, just that on the site it is under the ValuGard brand.

Yes, they offer many of their products in gallons (polishes/sealants) and 55 gallon drums (liquids). I'm sure they can ship anything you'd like as well. They ship products to distributors all over the world weekly.

Sorry i mean opti-coat. This product seems very interesting. What other packages can be offered with this product vs paint. Being be do paint sealants and re-applys bring people back vs a lifetime product. what about plastic or wheels?

What are some good premium waxes? Is a wax with more carnauba better or more polymers?

edit: nvm kinda read around and answered my own ?

Can a wax be applied over the master shield paint sealant ? And if so how long after? Im getting come Collinite 845 today so i will be trying it out on lots of vehicles including my own which is paint sealed.

Thanks

You can put collinite over almost anything. 845 even works on hard plastic trim! Leave a panel with just Master Shield and see if you notice a difference.

Your dealerships customers paid for the Master Shield and the Chrysler warranty that came with it.

By applying another product over the Master Shield product, you void their warranty.

Not for customers for my own vehicles (mine and family) im not waisting my time and putting wax over a customers paint sealant lol im busy enough as it is..

Shane.bletzers- I'm pretty confident you'll be happy with the Collinite 845 (just finished putting another coat on my winter car).

On surfaces like black plastic trim, I buff the 845 off before it dries completely (as opposed to the normal wait until it passes the "finger-wipe test") as it helps avoid any issues with residual wax. I said "issues" because the 845 doesn't leave the "white wax stains" that other products can, but it's still best to do it that way IME lest it leave residual wax in the trim's texture.

While some will say it's a :nono I even use 845 on some *rubber* items. Been waxing such stuff for decades with no problems.

Thanks should have bottle in hand in the next couple hours :) So how long between coats sould i wait if doing more than one wax coating or after i paint seal my truck lets say?

6 hours, 24, right away
