PAINT problem need help.

I have issues
So,I had my new car keyed last October and it was repaired in May. Well the Body shop I picked neded up being a NIGHTMARE.I had to have the rear 1/4 panel painted twice and wetsanded after that, then today after spending hours on my car I see this on my door ,that was also repainted. I just want some advice on the what the problem could be.

I'm not sure what it is that I'm looking at. Is it the white lines that you are talking about or something else? The picture isn't clear enough to get a good idea of what it is.

Are they cracks in the paint or something on the surface? Can you feel them at all either with your finger nail or with just your hand? Did they just appear or were they there all along do you think?

Should have explained more. There is a ghosting affect next to the handle, to the right and under neath. It isn't easy to see unless you are in direct sunlight.

You said you had that painted. Maybe they just did a really bad job? Does it feel rough? If you already wet sanded it, there may not be any hope.

I agree with Texas TB, it looks like holograms to me too. They probably used the rotary after wet sanding and did a sloppy job. :(

I also got my car out of the dealership bodyshop this week and it looked just like that.
They're going to fix some panels though because they messed the paint up-- really cloudy and the color doesn't match.

It does look like holograms caused by a wool pad and it can be fixed :)

Of course they can.... but that loook like a really crapy job on the body shop.. Did you go to your insurances place.. when i had a body shop mess up my old sonata i complained and got to pick another one of there shop which was better. I hope you can resove this.

Look at the bottom two pictures on this page. Those are dealership installed holograms on a 2006 vehicle. They were easy to remove with a PC, so you are probably going to be able to fix them. Hacks at dealerships love to put those things on. It is possible that the body shop you went to had guys that simply didn't know how to use the rotary tool. They burn the paint and leave those holograms and then they grease up the panel with some sort of oily glaze so that the damage doesn't show up right away. Then in a few days when the oils evaporate they appear. Why it has taken three or four months for the damage to show up on yours is a mystery to me.

I worked on this after work with Poor Boy SSR2 By hand with no luck......

W/ out directly looking at it in person its difficult to say what the right prescription would be for this problem.

The rule of thumb is to take the least abrasive route first and gradully increase untill your given problem is resolved.

W/ out a doubt your going to need a PC or a Rotary to get any progress on something like that. Maybe even some light wet sanding.

From the pictures (it would be better if you had a picture that was a little further away) It looks as if the rest of the area was buffed out and this part was left alone.

I will try and take some better pics without some much exposure. I had noticed this after using the PC, I am wondering if I just uncovered the problem that was always there.

I was thinking about this last night while detailing a car with similar damage. It almost looks like the clear coat didn't cure properly due to poor prep work on the color coat. It is possible that if the color coat was wet or if it was sprayed before the color coat was dry, then something like that could happen. Usually you get things like fisheyes when you don't spray the clear on properly, but cloudy appearance is another symptom of crappy work. Take it to another shop and get their professional opinion. You may have a small claims case here.

Thanks man, always looking out. I had a smaller circle on the rear 1/4 panel that was repainted and this probaly just took longer to show up.

This guy is NOT repainting my car that is for sure.
