paint preperation and protection after winter

i am about ready to start removing any micro marring that has occurred during winter. this is going to be my first time polishing and glazing before the application of zaino.

my car is an 03 and only has 13,000 miles.

So first i am going out and purchasing a bunch of products that i will need. I am going to get a pc (7242 with the 6in backing plate and some yellow and white pads). I am thinking about purchasing 3m smr for light colored cars, p21s gepc, zaino, p21s wax, and microfiber towels.

Now i am probably going to practice my polishing on my moms 96 honda before i move on to my car.

these are the steps that i am thinking about following.

1. dawn

2. clay

3. 3m smr

4. p21s gepc

5. wash with z7

6. zfx and z5

7. z6

8. zfx and z2

9. z6

10. zfx and z2

11. z6

12. top with p21s wax

now i am not sure about steps 3, 4, and 5. see once i have finished applying p21s gepc i have to rewash and dont want to introduce and marring. Is there any other combination of products that work similarly as 3m smr and p21s gepc that dont have any fillers or oil? Also if u see any other steps which i am messing up please let me know.

I know the Menzerna polishes have no oils but I was disappointed with the results they gave me. I would recommend 1z Metallic and Paint Polish but you do have to remove oils.

IMO I would skip the Dawn wash. Most paint cleaners that you are using are going to strip off all the old wax.

Depending how bad the marring is, you might want to try some Megs DACP.

That is my plan for the spring. I picked up some DACP this winter and plan on using it with my PC.

Clay, DACP, #9 or AIO, SG, NXT or S100. (Daily Driver)

For my show car I plan on using some Megs #81, VM, Pinnacle Souveran.

Interested to see how these combos work out on red.

:D

i dont think that i will need to use dacp probably a little to harsh for my needs. My car only has 12000 miles on it. Now i am not familiar with any other sealers except for zaino so thats why i decided to use that, but if there is something else out there that is better and easier i wouldnt mind giving it a try. dont get me wrong i like zaino but if there is something better i'd use it.

also i havent been on here in a while and see everyone keeps talking about nxt. what is it and does it work well?
