paint "hardness" charts

this coming spring i am going to start a detailing business, and i am concerned about using the right products on the different levels of paint hardness that the different companies use. for example; is gm paint soft or hard, are toyotas soft or hard? is there such a thing as a "paint hardness" chart that would tell me how hard or soft each car has? any help would be appreciated.

Each car is different. There are no real specific for sure ways of knowing what a car is going to be. Ad in various levels of marring, polishes, pads, respray hardness and you have a lot to learn.
 
Yep. They simply don't work because of all the variables. Start with the least aggressive method and work your way up til you find what works for the results you wish to obtain.
 
Too many variables, plus repaints can throw it off too. Two words I hear quite often from Mike Phillips will be your best guide..."test spots".
