Paint from another car rubbed onto mine!!

Looking for a couple of suggestions on how to remedy this. I have searched under a few various keywords and found some help, but not much.

Basically, what happened is somebody who parked next to me opened their door right into my car. No ding (the silver lining here) but they managed to rub some of their blue paint onto my car above the wheel well. I ran my nail over the area, and the paint isn't above the surface of my paint - at least not enough to remove it with fingernails.

Suggestions? From my searching I found I could use denatured alcohol, or even Tarminator (sp?). I'm not sure if this is the way to go, or, for example, I should by using some kind of 3M hi cut polish. Let me know. Thanks.

a good polish should remove "the other guys paint" without disturbing yours...may have to re-wax area though.:wavey

I am going to try the clay route, but I have the feeling it will fail to remove it. You should feel the area -- it's as if the other paint and mine have bonded!!

This should come off very easy.

I have used meg's scratch x for paint transfer removal. You can also you 3m perfect III compound if you need something stronger.

If you have a PC that will help out a lot.

Try the clay first and see what happens.

Ditto on the above ... clay first and then Scratch-X with a PC!

That ought to do it.

I used Scratch X on a rental car once for the same type of problem, it took a lot of product and some hard work but it worked like a charm!
