Paint Fading from trim

Its been a while since I have posted but I have a few questions. The wheel arches on my SUV are plastic and I am not sure why but the part of the trim closest to the body panel is starting fade. I got some forever black but it does not seem to be working out. The trim is black and the part that is fading is some type of yellow textured plastic. The forever black did cover it some but it also streaked. I used the cleaner that came with it and I could see that it was not taking. Does anyone think Rubbing alcohol would do a better job with the preparation?

I tired to cover up the streaking with some Lexol but that did not work and it left a white residue on all the trim that does not want to come off. Any Suggestions?

I used some Griot's vinyl and trim dressing (I treated myself) and that seemed to cover it well but when I went to buff it off, the white stuff came right back. The SUV is all black so its noticeable. Any help would be appreciated.

The Vehicle is a Black '04 Discovery. I will try to takes some pictures today. I have never up loaded any yet. Do I need a place to host them first or can I just post them here?

I have two because I got deployed and forgot that I was posting on this site so I got another one. Now I forgot all my passwords.

Sounds to me that you have something which is stopping the dressing from adhering to the black trim ,silicone perhaps? I dont like the idea of using alcahol wouldnt this leave you a white residue ?.
Perhaps you may need to strip all of the dressing off and do a thorough clean so the products can adhere to the surface.

Regards.
