Hello,
In October I got a great deal on a decent car. I know the previous owner. Car has 125K miles. It was used for commuting and nothing else every day. Spent all its time on the highway. As you can imagine the front bumper could use a repaint (and will probably get one) but the rest of the body is ding and dent free, and they are only 3 scratches present that need addressing. The car is a 2005. It was well maintained mechanically, washed regularly, but never waxed, and has never seen a polisher. Car is white so the paint looks good. I think it has a lot of potential and I can go a littler harder on it than a car I know nothing about. What I am interested in finding out is if there is any benefit to using a paint decontamination system. My plan was to dawn it, and then hit it with 105 for a pass or two, and then 205 and then take it from there. I am reading more and more about paint decontamination systems online and although I understand what they do......... I don't understand what they do... if that makes any sense? With the exception of removing things like Iron particles that cause corrosion to the body and paint from the paint, what are the other benefits/long term benefits of using one of these systems. Do they do anything for the long term visible appearance, or are they merely preventative maintenance? In addition, how often are you using them?
