Paint Cleanser Advice

Hey guys, I have been wanting to get a pre-wax/pre-sealant cleaner that I can use by hand for those times when using a machine isnt possible. I am somewhat reluctant to use VMG which I have and I dont want to try something like an AIO by hand for fear of turning into a snowman when working outside. So I would like some suggestions. Much thanks in advance

What don't you like about VMG, and what does "I dont want to try something like an AIO by hand for fear of turning into a snowman when working outside" mean??

VMG wouldnt be a good pre cleaner anyway, although it is one of the easier products to use. Just not as a pre cleaner.

Im afraid Mike or I dont really understand your limitations here?

I would guess that the snowman comment referred to being out in the cold, he wants something that is relatively quick to apply and remove. However, an AIO is probably your best bet.

My favorite product by hand is ZAIO. Danase has also released a paint cleaner which is really nice by hand. Poliseal works alright by hand, but their is a relatively short work time, which in your case may be preferred.

It means its very cold out because of winter.

NSX how long is the working time of ZAIO? I have never used it. Actually now that I think about, isnt Werkstatts stuff good in winter? But then again I dont have experience with Jeffs either..:(

Or hell should I just opt for something like HD Cleanse or SV fluid??

And Patrick, what do you guys mean by limitations??

I understand your reluctancy to use VM, as a cleaner (at least I think I do). And I think you mean you dont have a lot of time to do such a task due to weather conditions?

Four Star Ultimate Paint cleanser is my favourite. Very easy to use, enhances depth and wetness alot and can put any sealer or wax over the top of it unlike clearkote, which I've used up and not buying again. Got made obsolete

I didnt even think of this. What about Meguiars Deep crystal paint cleaner?? I would love to buy some of the aforementioned but shipping would kill it and for just 1 item... So what do you think, I dont know what this didnt spring up in my head first.

Oh and again, its before a glaze and a seal

I've been looking at the Danase Pure Polish but the product description on their website sucks. How is this applied? Is it wipe on wipe off or do work it in then let it haze then buff off? How much did you end up using per car? How many cars do you think you could do with that 16oz bottle?

I am looking for a non-abrasive cleanser that leaves nothing behind but a sqeaky clean surface. No fillers, oils or gloss enhancers. Mainly want for brand new cars just off the dealer lot that do not need any machine polishing. I guess using on really neglected cars prior to polishing would keep my pads for getting trashed too quickly too.

Apply it by hand or machine. Work it in and wipe it off. No need to wait for haze. If you wait for it to haze it's fine too, it doesn't make a difference. Use a tiny bit...if you use too much you will know it and it can be a pain to work with, like most polishes, when applied too heavy.

Wow excellent. Thanks for responding. Sorry if I offended you. You have such a wonderful description for the Wet Glaze (which is why I was on the website). It just made the Pure Polish description seem lacking. Is it the same concept as the Swisswax and VW cleaner fluids?

So what was your intended use for this?

-Pre abrasive polish/compounding cleansing

-Post abrasive polish cleansing prior to LSP

-LSP stripping/cleansing prior to LSP reapplication on a already well maintained finish

I want to try out the Wet Glaze but then saw this Pure Polish and just wanted to find out more about it before ordering. I could only find a few references to it here.

Thanks again
