I've been using a paint brush to apply tire dressing since my Dad showed me this trick back in high school. You can spray the brush directly and just wipe around the tire. The brushes wash clean easily and do a great job of giving an even layer of product that dries on nice and thick without completely being wiped away. It probably gives a heavier coating than techniques in which you wipe off or buff the tire, but for those of you that like more dressing/durability it can't be beat IMO. Anybody out there do the same?

Instead of spraying it on your brush, pour some into a small bucket and dip your brush into it. I use a 3 inch semi coarse brush and it works great. Make sure to cover up your pail after dressing so it doesn't evaporate.
I don't use a paint brush but I use an old worn down wheel brush (flogged tip type with flogging worn off). Spray the brush and apply. I generally use 2-4 sprays a tire from a standard 1.3ml trigger. After a few uses the brush becomes "seasoned" and application is even quicker. I still see guys out there commercially spraying tires after they have cleaned the car. I guess they don't see the spots on the sides like I do

Doesn't it go on so thick that the tire dressing splatters up on the car when you drive it?

A foam brush does the job good.

The paint brush method has been around for sometime. I used an old coffee mug poured in my dressing and started painting. It's ok but i prefer using a sponge or foam to apply my dressing now-a-days. Sponges are dirt cheap at the local 99cent store and you can get cheap foam scraps from upholstery shops or cruise around behind a furniture (near its dumpster) and you'll find tons of free foam there (one man's garbage ..... lol)

i've been doing it that way (with a paint brush) forever, it allows me to apply a thin coat of dressing without the overspray and no sling afterwards.

I love foam, but their life span is pretty short when you're using them on tires. I also aviod dressing tires with a sponge by hand(w/o a handle) because it coats your hands and gets under your nails. Not the best thing to do right before cleaning your windows!!
