just wonder is it worth it to buy the whole sonus pad kit on autopia???/cuz i dont really know if i am going to be using the green and blue pad.. im only planning to polish and wax my car.also will using 1 pad for polish be okay??? or do i need a another one.

The kit is a good idea because it comes with the correct backing plate along with a set of pads. I think you'll be using the green and blue pads, they are your polish pads. Green is a bit more aggressive than the blue.

If you're going to be using more than one polish then get an extra green pad (you can never have enough polish pads!).

If you're going to use a polish with the orange pad, then follow up with a less aggressive "final" polish using the green pad.

The blue pad will work well for a glaze/polish like VM (Vanilla Moose) or a cleaner like Klasse AIO.

You'll finish things off by using the grey pad to apply your wax or sealer, unless you decide to do that by hand.

If reading through the forums you see a member say they used XYZ product on a (for example) yellow pad, you need to know who the manufacturer is and the style of the pad. For example the LC yellow pads are a more aggressive cutting pad, while the Meg's yellow pad (W8006) is a polishing pad. The colors, sizes, etc. can be confusing.

ahhhh ic. so i should get the kit then huh... so the green pad is for agressive polish like #83 and orange is for #82 or something.

Here is a rough breakdown of the Sonus pads and what you might use them for:

Light cutting: Orange (#83)

Regular Polishing: Green (#83, #80, #82, etc.)

Light Polishing: Blue (Klasse AIO, Meg's ColorX, Vanilla Moose, etc.)

Finishing: Grey (wax and sealers)

You would want to try and remove defects with the green pad first, then go to the orange pad if a more aggressive pad was needed.

For Menzerna, how would Sonus pads be used?

Orange Sonus: IP or FPII

Green Pad: FPII?

Blue Pad: FPII?

Black Pad: FTG?

I'm assuming that that's how it goes...maybe I should just stick with the pads Menzerna recommends...
