Pads--- is there a difference?

I know that people have there preferences between manufactures for one reason or another. It used to be due to they liked the foam or velcro backing or an adapter, but they were all flat. Then there were beveled pads, constant pressure pads... Now we have these.

My question is do any of these designs REALLY make a difference or is it all still down to the foam.
They all seem to state they they help reduce heat, but if I remember right heat is what helps break down the polishes, so how is this helping? :hmmm:

Thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

Well Jay the answer to that for me is to say it is all down to the foam. No matter low pro...no matter CCS...no matter slice and dice...no matter waffel weave...or fluffy foam strips.

I feel it is just like sealants. You find one that works and use it often. Now backing pads are a different matter. They do make a difference.

I agree on the backing plate. I used to have a non-flexible one, but have changed over to one that does flex and I am much happier with that :)

I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for, but the CCS pads are quite different than normal / traditional pads. I usually wash my pads by hand and then rinse the soap out. With CCS pads it is difficult to remove all of the soap suds for some reason. The cell size on those seem to be a lot smaller than normal pads thus holding in the soap more than the others. However, I really haven't found any differences in performance while I'm detailing though... (of the new pads I've only tried the CCS, so far :))
