I just bought the Lake Country and Meguiars pads for polishing my car with my PC. The stuff that I used were Klasse.

The question is: Do you guys wash the pads after used?

Thanks.

i always wash pads after each use..i only use meguiar's products right now, and except for the wax i use (#26 and #21), everything else rinses out completely. I never have a problem removing polishes, just lsp  i fill a bucket of water, dunk the pad in, take the pad out ...wring it...then repeat ...then to dry i roll the pad with a mircrofiber :woohoo:

Will the backing of the pads (black cloth thing) easy to come loose or not attach well to the velcro backing plate?

What kind of detergent do you use for washing the pads?

I was the pads after each use too ... put them in a bucket filled with water and Dawn, let them soak for at least an hour, rinse them out, flatten them with the palms of my hand to wring out the water, and then let them air dry on a towel rack.

So, there is no problem for washing these pads, right? Should I use warm / cold water for cleaning?

I read the other discussion forum saying that it is not recommend the pads because, the pads will not attach well to the backing plate in future.

My pads are dirty and "hardened", I believe I would throw them in the soapy water and clean all the dirt out.

I use warm water, but I don't think it'd make a difference.

Some people throw their pads into the wawshing machine. I don't have one, and even if I did I don't think I'd personally do it, but the pads are pretty durable.

You'll probably have to "scrub" them with your fingers or some sort of brush once they've soaked for a while.

I give them a quick squirt with Meguiar's APC and toss 'em into a bucket of hose water as soon as I'm done with them. Sometimes I'll scrub them by hand (no tools) after they soak and I'm done polishing, or I'll let them soak for a day or two until I get around to them.

Then I spin them dry (via rotary) which isn't really that dry, so roll them in a MF drying towel and squeeze out the excess, then let air dry face-down. They've survived quite well.

I see! :xyxthumbs

So, another question is: Should I use dish detergent such as "Dawn" or use regular washing detergent such as "Liquid Ivory" for washing / soaking?

I use the Lake Country Pad Washer. Very easy to use and only takes about 15 seconds to clean them, and you really don't even need to let them dry completely before the next use. On several SS vehicles I've done, I've had to clean my pad 4-5 times during the process. This thing saves time and saves your pads....well worth the cost.

We don't have this stuff for sale in Canada here. Therefore, I would use my "Dawn" to clean the pads. I believe they are super dirty, I really need to clean all of them this weekend.

Thanks.

I would put a scoop of oxyClean into a 4-5 gallon bucket with semi hot water and also some Blue dawn and agitate it so the oxiClean is completely dissolved , then soak and wring them in the solution since your pads havent been cleaned .

Then after any other use , just a drop into a bucket of sudsy water and wringing should work

Air dry face up after " shaking out excess water "

The only stuff I have tried that gets them real clean is Charlie's Soap. RMG even comes out of the pads!

what is rmg...i looked at the acronym page *know called the secret decoder list* :LOLOL and couldnt find it soo :hm i use regular water, and they rinse nice and clean..sometimes i will use dish detergent, i might try a degreaser or apc seems like a good idea :idea wonder why i never thought of it :wall i would never throw it in the washing machine..i mean its a good idea but some ppl in my household have very sensitive skin...i could see it know :furious: x 1000 ...moral is always rinse out the pad after each :waxing: session.....even if its just water. ti will prevent the pads from getting caked :2thumbs:

I like Clearcoats products but they are very hard to remove from pads because of the oils used. Tide and other detergents did not touch it. I tried Charlie's Soap on recomendatons from people here. And now I use it for all my washing.
