Pad size is it me

Dewey,Cheatem & Howe ESQ.
I started out with the lc 5.5 pads and they are great overall.Went with a larger LC pad 6.5 and it seems a little larger than the pc can handle.Sure it works OK but I also had a harder time using it.I know its larger but I feel more comfortable using the smaller pad.It does save time on hoods trunks and the like.I did not spritz the pad before use should I have done this. :inspector:
 
I would always recommend priming the pad prior to using it with the first bit of polish of the detail. You will find many different opinions on this topic. I personally do not see much "benefit" per say to going with a smaller pad on a PC unless maybe a 4" pad for tighter areas. I use 6.5" pads for my PC cutting and polishing. That said, smaller pads are a little easier to work with but in my opinion provide no other benefit.
 
I agree ... I use 6.5" pads and have no problem on the pc and they also switch over to the rotary when needed. You might need to bump up the speed...
Always prime the pad with product, some people spread it by tapping, putting a circle and spreading with fingers ..etc ..
 
I guess it's personal preference. Back when I used to use the PC, I always liked 5.5" pads for doing correction. You can use the 6.5s, but I liked the 5.5s better. For non-correction work, bigger pads are better, because they cover more real estate quicker. I would stick with what you are comfortable with as there is no right or wrong, just what works best for you to achieve the desired results.

Thanks guys,I do prime the pad with product,just wanted to know if a qd is best sprayed to dampen the new pad first.

Thanks,and I do like the 5.5 the best but on large open spaces the 6.5 is better time wise... :thanks :bigups
 
I switched from 6.5 to 5.5 about 2 years ago... I've never gone back to the 6.5's.

The PC's power is just better suited to the 5.5 pads IMO....;)

That's what I saw when using the bigger pads 6.5.I will try and use them on the larger surfaces but the 5.5 pads are the cats **** thanks guy's.

Ummm, I think it's ok to say meow on here.:hmmm:

I must be missing something.:cool:


As far as pads go, I was a big 5.5 fan mainly because they were thinner and that made for slightly faster paint correction on a DA.

Now that I have a FLEX I am back to using 6.5 pads mostly because they can be used on all three of my machines (DA, FLEX and rotary) I don't really use my DA for paint correction anymore so the pad size doesn't matter as much to me now.
