Pad Questions

I'm going to make my first DA machine purchase (UDM) from AG this week and I had some questions.

1) They are currently giving free Wolfgang low profile 5.5" orange pads with UDM purchases. Are these any good or should I get some 5.5" CCS pads from Danase instead?

2) Does anyone really use 4" spot pads?

3) Anyone know how well the XMT pad cleaner and pad conditioner are?

Thanks!

Our pads are 5". ;)

I have a lot of customers who use the 4" spot pads to do their entire vehicle. I like the 5" pads though.

I started out using 6.5" LC CCS pads. On some occasions, I've heavily depended on 4" LC CCS spot pads due to my need for more aggressiveness and / or tight areas (such as pillars).

I don't know much about pad cleaners / conditioners, but a lot of people get by without them. I don't use them personally. However, I do use the XMT spritz pad lube every 3 pad loads while I polish (is this what you meant by "conditioner?"). I wash my pads with Dawn Power Dissolver.

Thanks for the advice guys! I think I'll wait on the 5" CCS pads from Danase so I can make sure I get the 4" ones now (trying to maintain a wife approved budget). The XMT pad cleaner and conditioner (I think its probably the same thing as the sprtiz) come in the UDM kit I was going to get, so I'll try it out.

Thanks!!!

I started out using 6.5" pads (too big), then I tried some 4" pads (too small), then I ordered some 5" pads (just right). Just my two cents. :)

I use the 5" most of the time. You need to be very careful since the edge of the backing plate is at the edge of the pad. One wrong move and the you have problems. The 3.5" might be a better idea.
