Pad problem to be aware of.

I was using the Orange 7.5" LC VC pad today, worked great, awesome quality.

Then i switched to the 6.5" white polishing pad, flat.

While i was using the orange pad i got alittle product inside the hole of the orange pad, onto the backing plate.

Anyone know what happens next when you put on a pad without a hole?

LOL, some of you do dont ya hahah, it melts the pad to the backing plate.

Why is learning the hard way, pretty much the only way......

To put it simple, if you have a 7.5 VC pad, dont get any product down the hole onto the plate, it will conduct heat, and melt the pad.

Could you post a pic of that, because Ive switched from a pad with a hole to no hole and have never had a problem. Im curious to see how that happens.

I was using DACP with the orange pad, then i switched to a white pad and was using HT Light Cut on 6.

Hmmm, very interesting. I use 7.5 pads with the hole in the middle and regular flat pads without the hole switching back and forth, and never had this happen. For a preventive measure I guess I'll start cleaning off the little bit of polish left on the backing plate before attaching my flat pads.

How much product is getting in that hole? I usually have a tiny bit of residue but not enough to be worried about. Just wondering if you are using too much product in general?

If it helps, when using a pad with a hole, put a piece of tape over the hole before placing it on backing plate. That way it will prevent compounds from seeping into backing plate and drying on the velcro.

Sorry i disapeared. My camera has dead betteries, but i will try to get some this weekend.

The amount of product i got down the hole really wasnt too much, i was making a circle and somehow ran the product over the hole area.

Like i said this was with DACP. I got it in the hole near the end of my DACP run, then switched over to HT LC with a 6.5" white pad.

I polished a fender, trunk, right quarter panel and 2 doors on 6.

When i went to remove the pad it was glued on the plate. I ripped a round hole in the back of the pad removing it, and the backing is still stuck to the plate, i cant get it off.

I wasnt applying too much pressure to the PC, i pretty much let the PC do what it does with only enough pressure to keep it firm in my hands and against the surface.

I will get a pic up this weekend :xyxthumbs

Here are a couple pics, anyone ever see anything like this before?
