Package Prices

Im starting my mobile detailing business in a new area and have no rapport orcontacts with anyone here. I dont want to waste my time driving all the way across town to do a $35 job. When I was running one in Georgia I had a $150 minimum. Whether it was for a complete detail on one vehicle or a package price for a follow up wash and quick detail. Do you think it is wise for me to try to start with such a bold statement down here seeing as how I dont have any credibitlity with this new community

Yes, go out there and find those new customers who are more than willing to pay you what you know you are worth. They will find out soon enough that your knowledge and previous experience is worth the price you are charging them for your good work. Remember, the best detailing customers are the people who are focused on quality, not price.

thanks a lot... It takes quite a bit more work trying to go full time with no word of mouth rather than having a little backing from networking.

Contrary to what many detailers believe, low prices don’t build credibility. Low prices only make it harder to pay the bills. If new to the area you may try to offer a guarantee. If you do a exceptional job then charge a high price. Rapport is something that will come with time.

I'd think about running a "Grand Opening" special to introduce your services to the area. When they call, you can inform of your experience and qualifications.

Just to get my name out there I started organizing charity carwashes and doing them the past few weeks. I would post my signs around the was area and put a business card on each of the driver seats. Another plus that I have used is taking before and after pics of cars I've detailed and showing them to customers so that they can see the quality work I'll be doing on their car.

Do you have a sign on your work vehicle? Just from one initial call from someone seeing the sign I had on my car, I've made more than $100,000 in the past 12 years from that person, his co-workers and referrals. Not bad for a $35 vinyl sign!

I'd also suggest a small insert ad in the Yellow Pages until you get established, by then, a simple listing will suffice. Get involved with the local schools too. Offer an exterior detail as a PTA door prize.

Yeah I acutally have 2 magnetic business signs one on each door and one on the tailgate. I also use magnetic business cards in a lot of cases to advertise. I havent put an ad in the yellow pages but thats next on my list. Also I've been thnking of changing the name of my business and slogan. I could use some ideas if you have any.
