Package: Jet Black BMW

Hey guys,

So this past week I was detailing my 07 335i. It's Jet Black, which I never knew was next to impossible to fully correct. ha. I started doing it and it wasn't coming out as perfect as I thought.

My kit was the following:

Universal Detailing Machine

CCS Orange pad with SSR 2.5

CCS White pad with SSR 1.0

Blue Microfiber towels from BJs

I would use the CCS pads and everything would be good. However, when I took the polish off the car it would scratch it a little. What I'm looking for in this thread is a better setup then what I currently have to make it easier on me when Spring comes around and I detail the car again.

My ideal kit is the following:

Flex 3401

CCS Orange pad with Menzerna SIP

CCS White pad with Menzerna 106FA

Cobra Microfiber towels

You guys think I will have any better luck with the proposed kit.

Thanks,

Mike

When you were removing the polish residue were you inducing what looked like very light "rainbow" looking scratches? If so, that's been an extremely common issue with jb bmw's and a few other cars (black subaru's etc...). I don't know if anyone really has a solution that works 100% of the time. I usually let the panel cool down a bit then spray with ONR, then wipe.

I could always try that. I wasn't getting any rainbow looking scratches. Just like little light scratches that could only be seen under a halogen.

Spray something on top (ONR QD mix) and use that to take it off. I had that problem with customer's JB's and that helped a bit. Just go slow with JB and you'll be fine ;)

For something on paint as soft as this, I only wipe when need to. I would go straight to Chemical Guyz EZ Creme Glaze on speed 6 with the PC and that helps removing oils from the polishing and really cleans the paint well before protecting. Then I would apply say Opti-Seal, then after a little cure I would lightly wipe away some OID or OCW.
