P21S Wheel Cleaner Reg or Gel?

I was wondering what people have to say about the difference between the two. I know the gel will stick to the wheel better, but is it more aggresive and harder to remove? I plan on ordering it and a refill so I really don't want to order the wrong one. I do a lot of BMW wheels so I was leaning towards the gel.

Haven't used either, but I would assume the gel is a little more aggressive. I dont see why it would be harder to remove.

i have the regular but haven't used it yet. the gel sounds better simply because it'll stick where you put it...making it more aggressive by default. not sure if it's actually more concentrated though. i'm sure both are safe.

I have the gel cleaner its supposed to be for more soiled wheels rather than a wheel that is cleaned regularly.. I can tell you its NOT harsh on your rims at all. I highly recommed P21S gel wheel cleaner

This has been kicked around before, I'm not sure if it was decided that the gel is stronger or if it is just thicker--they charge more for it, in any case.

I use the liquid frequently and like it a lot.

Coupled with a Power Puff (search it), it cleans about 90% of the wheels out there. Yes, an acid is more effective but also a lot more dangerous.

The main thing about the liquid that's cool is the spray pattern can allow greater coverage. I always found gels to not be on that same page.

I also use the gel. Very happy with results on our Mini Cooper's white rims. Those rims collect so much brake dust it's incredible!! The gel works great

I havent used the P21S cleaner, but in general I prefer a gel\foam cleaner over a runny liquid cleaner. With a gel cleaner you can usually see more dirt being absorbed up into the cleaner because the cleaner changes color whereas with a liquid cleaner doesnt seem to provide the same visual feedback.

Aside from visual feedback, the gel seems to stick to the wheel and penetrate into deeper grime than a liquid.

I guess ill try both before buying the 5L refill.

Please keep us posted.

My local shop only carries the liquid, but can get the gel on special order. I may have him order me some to compare/contrast it to your findings.

Ill make sure to do a test on some BMW wheels.

I was wondering since it has a neutral pH could it be used for cleaning tires as well? If so how effective is it? I know A2Z does a great job on tires, but is acidic in nature which isnt great for tires.

Gel is needed for seriously dirty wheels. You can get by (easily) with the regular product for wheels that are cared for.

I always found P21 runoff to be great at cleaning tires (in my pre-Autopian days, when I was a little less critical :o). A2Z is actually alkaline/basic, rather than acidic.

I have got the liquid wheel cleaner didn't do the job I expected so I will try the gel next time & see how that goes.
