P21S Vs. Megs #16 (scottwax)

Looking for help in making the decision between these 2 waxes. With #16 going for about 30 dollars shipped it is the same price as the P21 so that is a wash.

For a all around wax which would you choose and why?

Danny you can pick up s100 wax at a harley dealer its the same as P21 and half the price

i personally liked the look of s100 over #16 on the blue scion tc i had

although not nearly as durable as #16

P21S is a much better wax overall. It looks great and is much easier to apply and remove. It's also more optically clear. #16 is a bit more durable but P21S is so easy to apply that it's worth it.

Thin is always better but some waxes buff off much easier than average. P21S and Souveran are two examples. :)

P21S is probably my favorite beauty wax since I own 2 light colored cars, but it's not very durable at all. when I use it over the summer, I generally reapply every 2-3wks to maintain it. #16, on the other hand, has given me more durability than Collinite 845 in my own experience. Both are great waxes, so it all comes down to whether you value looks over durability.

I'd go with #16 over S100. In fact, I haven't bought any more S100 since I started using #16. I prefer the deeper glow of #16 to the very bright shine of S100. Plus, applied and removed a section at a time, #16 isn't really any more difficult to use than S100 is. #16 is definitely more durable too.

To second what firegate said, I get better durability out of #16 than Collinite 845 as well.

You da man Scott Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you're looking for durability get Collinite 476S, top with S100 for looks if you need to. Thats if you need it to be a wax, if you want durability and don't need the benefits of a carnauba wax get a sealant. Just my opinion.

I have zaino on my PCs but for family and friends i prefer to use wax

With #16, is there a need for it to Haze then buff? I'm sure my applications are too thick, being a PITA to buff off. Is it recommended to apply #16 with a PC? If so, what color pad would be best?

Use a finishing pad..

Yes, harder removal than other waxes (CMW/ NB/ MaxWax, 5050/ Souveran.. ie.. all my other carnuabas) I still use it though, I dig the beading if nothing else. Sure, I can get that from collinite or my others, but it lasts a little bit longer and seems to have taller beads for me. Different strokes for different folks.

I use a gray finish pad, but colors might vary depending on who makes the pads. If I use a 4" pad it will fit in the tin of #16, but for a larger pad I use something like a 1" plastic putty knife to scrape just a little bit onto the pad and spread it around. The PC really allows you to lay down a thin application, and a little really does go a long way. If you're not sure if you need to reapply more to your pad just do a spot on something like your side glass and you'll see if there is still wax on the pad.

I apply it to the whole car and by the time I'm finished with the last panel it has hazed where I first started and I just start buffing it off with a MF. I've never had a problem applying or removing it this way, and I actually find #16 a pleasure to work with. I just applied a coat of Collinite 476 to my mini-van this afternoon the same way and it too was very easy to buff off. Sometimes when I'm finshed buffing it off by hand I'll go over it with a MF bonnet on the PC just to make sure I didn't miss any spots.

No it isn't. Apply a thin layer, one section at a time, then remove. Barely more effort to remove than S100/P21S or Souveran. I have all three and I reach for #16 more than either of the other two combined a couple times over.

Thanks for the insight, this will help alot. I'm new to PCs, not sure if I'll be doing the right thing. This is what I have planned so far:

  1. Wash car with Meg. GC wash
  2. Clay bar
  3. Use PC + orange cutting pad as an applicator for Optimum polish
  4. Buff off with microfiber
  5. Use PC + gray finishing pad as an applicator for PB EX-P sealant
  6. Buff off with microfiber
  7. Use PC to apply Meg. #16
  8. Buff off with microfiber

What kind of pads will you recommend? I'm having some trouble locating lake country pads. Also, can you recommend a place to purchase OP and PB?

Thanks much, really appreciate this :up
