P21S VS. CJ (Carnauba Jett)

I am a current user of P21S - it works well, and I am happy with the results. I have been looking at adding another nuba to my treasure chest, wondering if some members can provide their experiences (directly comparing the two items listed).

I have pretty much the entire line of Werkstatt paint products and have been really impressed with them all so far *except* CJ. Now I will qualify this by saying I have only tried it twice now, however in both cases application was rather difficult for a spray, and the finish was, imo, mediocre. Others may have better input; I need to try it on more cars before I can really judge it.
 
My experience pretty much mirrored Picus'. I've only used CJ a couple of times, I found it to leave a so-so finish, and be a little difficult to work with. It seems to get "sticky" as you buff it out, and it smeared slightly for me. Not a very slick finish, either, IMO.

I used CJ about a month ago and though it was very difficult to apply and remove and I tried to keep the product very thin. Tried for about 2 minutes on the Porsche and then gave up. Used the next day on our Lexus. Did the entire car, but found it to be difficult to use and the results were okay, nothing great. Tried Carnauba Glos as well and found it to not be slick and felt like my MF towel was dragging across the surface of the paint. Put a coat of PS21S on the Lexus (silver) two weeks ago and it looks AWESOME, plus it was very easy to use.



Be advised that I am just trying to keep my two cars looking nice. I am not a professional, but for me the Werkstatt carnauba products were not that easy to use and didn't provide the results that I can get from other more user friendly products.

I may be trying P21s for my next layer.
 
Thanks guys - this is good feedback on the product. Seems the synthetic stuff is where Werks really shines.....no pun intended...LOL

I have to agree I prefer the look of CJ, at least on my finish ( black) not sure how you guys are applying it but I have been found of it . the durability is very good and I may be applying in a smaller area with less product. just like Trigger ( maybe more so) a little goes a loooooooong way for me. sorry to see you guys did not have luck with it. if you guys are looking to dump the CJ, give me a shout.
 
I updated my other thread on the Werkstatt products with this today, I will copy and paste:



RE: CJ, I tried this on another two cars. The first I did the spray method and used much less product like Scott described and was still rather unimpressed. Application was a bit tiresome (it's "gummier" than OCW) even using much much less product.



However I then decided to try something different. Yesterday I had a monthly wash on a black CLK500. Last month I put Nattys Blue on it and it was still holding up well, but I had time and the owner approved, so I polished with prime strong, buffed off, then used CJ. Instead of spraying CJ I put a flip top on it and used it via PC. I applied with a grey finishing pad at speed 2, application was much easier; very smooth, spread well, required very little products. Removal was *much* easier. I let it sit for about 10 minutes while I dressed the tires then buffed off effortlessly. Gloss was much better than before; it looks a lot like Megs #26 to me in terms of its good gloss, wetness, depth, and reflectivness. I am concerned that this method of application may impede durabilty, but I will know more in a month.



I will continue to use it via spray to see if I can't nail down the issues I am having w/it, but I am also going to use it via PC in a pinch.



Back to the topic of this thread. Applied via PC I like CJ better in terms of looks. I have no idea how this will effect its durabilty, though.

Natty's Blue. It's just as easy to apply and remove, the smell is sooooooo amazingly good, and you'll LOVE the shine and slickness. It's great.

Agreed. This is what I've got on my car right now (and P21S on the other).

I will have to try it - is this something that you layer frequently - I was hoping to layer a nuba wax bi-monthly......something thats takes less than 30 mnutes to put on and take off. I use FK425 as a QD, but a new coat of wax, then 425 - perfect.
 
Interesting CJ application, Picus. I may have to try that. I really like CJ on black and red, definitely a lot more than S100/P21S but I wish CJ was a bit easier to use.



I read another thread were OCW and CJ were mixed 50/50 and he said the results are very impressive. :hm
