P21S Moldy

I have a 4 month old bottle of P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion. I wanted to use it the other day, directions say to shake it, which I did.

Whan I opened the bottle, there was a chunk of stuff floating, some of which was attached to the lid, as seen in the photo below. I think it is mold!

Anyone had a mold problem with P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion ?

The bottle was stored inside, no extremes of heat or cold.

I am concerned that I have a chunk of something that may be more abraisive than the P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion should be?

Sould I toss it ?

Lou

Don't think it's mold, as it would not live in that environment. It must be some of the product that started to evaporate and react with something in the air and left the deposit.

Don't trust it? Why bother trying, order some more! Last thing you need is some bad PCL which may scratch the finish.

I HAVE IT TOO.

In One Of My Bottles Of P21S GEPC, The Whole Bottle Has Green Splotches Inside. I Have Several Bottles, And Only One Did it. Looks Like Mold In My Bottle.

I recently went with a new storage cabinet on wheels so I cleaned all the supply's out of the garage. I had some Meg's compounds which had well... chunk in them. I tossed them, great reason to buy more.

I have always wondered about shelf life of these various products we purchase. Many the vendors/mfg could shel some light on the subject.

Yeah,

I posted about this subject recently and some claim you can hold on to some polishes and compounds for years. This may be so for some but reading these reports of mold and caking up do not surprise me. Guess we just need to monitor our stuff every so often. To keep track of how old my polishes and compounds are I write the dates I purchased them on the labels.

My S100 SEPC developed small blobs of what I thought looked like mold. I used the SEPC--just careful to remove the blobs off my applicator. The product still worked fine--curious as to what happened.

You guys should contact the mfr if you have moldy or defective products. Could be a mfr'ing defect or a problem in shipping or with one of their dealers. They might be able to trace the origins of the problem if you send back your product. And I'm sure they'll send you a new one. Worth a phone call at least.

I just found a ton of pink mold floating on the top of my S100 SEPC! Dissapointing considering I have enough left in there for at least two more polishes. :( I'm going to try to return mine to the Harley Dealer I bought it from, if they don't exchange it I'll be switching brands.

Anyone have a suggestion on another hand polish which works as well if not better than SEPC and is as easy to use?

I got mold in my P21S GEPC ( 1/2 bottle). It's about a year old. Still a great product but I think they should sell smaller volume if this general issue persist or post a disclaimer about storage ( ie refrigerate) or expiration date.

My wax is okay. No mold.

If you like the results from the previously used GEPC and only have 2 applications left why change?

If you must _ Clearkote Vanilla Moose is excellent and of course Meguiar's DACP.

My favorite is DACP, Menzerna IP and FP for my black cars

VM or either DACP for my silver car.

Thanks for the suggestions blkZ28

Does the Vanilla Moose work well by hand? If yes that may be a great way to go since I've heard really good things about it's results. As you already suggested I might just buy SEPC again although I'm confident it will mold over again since it would take at least a year for me to finish a bottle.

DACP would be my favorite but I'm embarassed to say that I don't have a PC, I borrow my friends when I need it.:o Before I get flamed for that last comment I want to add that my car doesn't see rain and gets washed with soap maybe every 5 months so I don't need a PC for everyday use. Sad excuse I know. :(

Let's see what the Harley Dealer says about the mold.

The Harley dealer wouldn't exchange the bottle so, rather dissapointed I asked them to toss it and walked out.

There were several guys hanging around and when I showed them the bottle they couldn't believe it. They asked how long I had it and I stated 7 months and they were just nodding their heads. One guy was cracking up, he had never seen wax/polish go bad.

My wife was there and as we left she said just buy something new....heh heh heh no arguments from me.:D ;)

lol :D Excellent ploy to get the wife's ok to try something else MBZ. :bow

Vanilla Moose is just like GEPC (SEPC) in terms of ease of usage by hand. Maybe slightly easier if that's possible.:nixweiss

A plus for VM is that it actually lays down a layer of protection at the same time with the same cleaning effects of G(S)EPC. Use Scottwax's hand method - Cotton terry cloth and work into the finish. You're be amazed. Wonderful paint cleanser and gloss enhancer! I also use VM on my clearcoats wheels. A one step cleanser and protectant that works. Dirt and brake dust almost just rinses off. Actually, since I got VM my usage of GEPC has decreased. Maybe that's why my bottle molded. When I used it monthly between all the driven vehicles the visible existance of the mold was zero. :wavey
