Time to ask the Autopians. I'm having trouble removing overspray on the windshield of my wife's Tacoma. ( I'm 500 miles from the body shop that did the repair so returning to the shop is not an option.) I have used both Clay Magic Fine Grade Clay (blue) and Meguiars Body Shop Professional Overspray Clay (white). The Meguiars is pretty old but it is pliable and seems to be in good shape. Neither clay worked. I have ordered some Meguiars Professional Detailing Clay G-2100 ("aggressive"). If this doesn't work, what next? A friend of mine who owns a pro-detailing shop suggested steel wool and window cleaner. I'm a bit leery of trying this.

If you don't want to use steel wool, try buffing it with a compound.

I'd be very leery of using steel wool, some of today's auto "glass" (scare-quotes intentional as it's got a lot of plastic in it) is very soft. I usually even avoid metal razor blades (in favor of plastic ones), but I think that's what I'd try if it were mine. I dunno...it just seems like shearing off the "bumps" of paint would work better than compounding them down, though that oughta work too.

Here's a Q- will today's autopaint and autoglass react in a "can't ever fix that" way? I don't know, but it wouldn't surprise me.
