Overspray on platic and rubber trim!

An '02 Saab I detailed today got treated to a healthy amount of white overspray while in a body shop. An aggressive clay treatment removed the overspray from the paint and glass, but only 60% of the overspray could be removed from black rubber and black plastic trim. I tried:



1. clay

2. very fine steel whool

3. adhesive remover

4. direct vapor steaming



Nothing would get it completely off the trim. Maybe there is no solution for this problem?

Your best bet is to paint over it with trim paint. There's really no way to get it off unless you find a solvent that'll cut through the paint without harming the trim.

Good thought. Lacquer Thinner faded the black and rubber, and reducer would likely do the same, but it's worth a try.
