This question is directed more towards scottwax and full time detailers. I did a search, and didnt come up with much. Im curious, what is your yearly cost for maintaing your detailing arsenal? (car wash soap, all your polishes, waxes, all your mf's etc) Thanks a lot.

This is last years numbers.

$1503.92 Supplys.

$1116.03 Fuel.

$1248.40 Advertising

$2589.95 Insurance

Theres more but those are the big ones.

WASH-ME: I pay just less than $1200 for insurance (GarageKeeper policy). There are several variables, of course.

I'm in a fixed location, but I transport frequently. That large discrepancy bothers me...

The insurance includes my work van and two personal cars, I mean business cars ;) and my business insurance.

i just went over the taxes with the accountant this week.

expenses came to $14,000

That includes everything.

Funny how fast everything adds up. I am trying to control the expenses this year though.

I haven't even started on my taxes yet, so I really have no idea what I spent this year. I'd have to add in my website, business phone, cell phone, film and developing (which I can write off since it is almost always pics of details), gas, insurance, products, shoes, etc. I did log amost 10,000 miles this year just for detailing, so that is a nice deduction!

so when you write that off what does it exactly do. what if some one doesnt have a tax id? when you file your taxes as a detailer does that mean you may have to pay back at the end of the year

each state is different on how you are to file.

i am not an accountant so i may be giving you wrong info so double check what i say.

Depending on how you file for taxes, ever 3 months you will need to send the government the taxes you either collected and/or owe.

some states you need to add sales tax to the detailing.

some states have no taxes on detailing.

when you make money the gov always want some of it. so you would need to pay income taxes on the profit you make. so you would need to speak with an accountant to see how much you would owe if you made a certain amount.
