yo guys, i detail cars on the side like i am sure most of us do. for now i'd like to stay with some regular products that i can buy at murrays autozone pepboys, etc...

when things really take off, then maybe i'll have the funds for menzerna for ever car, (mine is the lucky one now :D )

what are some good swirl removing products. i have been using Megs #9 but have not used it with the newly acquired PC. any other suggestions ?? i would rather stay away from the really harsh/cutting products if possible. i will be doing some black cars and was wondering what is really going to make them look 110 % :xyxthumbs

#9 will work fine with the PC and a polishing pad. NXT with a finishing pad. Can't do any better with off the shelf product, IMO.

#2 is stronger than #9 but the abrasives won't break down properly with a PC, not enough heat. You'd need a rotary.

Maybe 3m PI III MG, something that could actually remove the swirls instead of cover them. I would try to buy polishes in a local paint and body supply store, just a much better selection than the car parts stores provide.

Yeah, getting acquainted with your local auto paint/body supply place can *really* expand your definition of "OTC products".

If you can find a local paint shop that carries the Meguairs Professional line, try #80 Speed Glaze. More aggressive intially than #9 or #82 but breaks down pretty quickly so you can use it by hand, PC or rotary.

If you go to the meguiars website...and do a search for a dealer, it will give you a list of some stores that sell automotive paint stuff...Carquest by me (near midway airport) carries the full line of professional meguiars stuff...thats where i got the DACP...

im a noob when it comes to professional line and ive been lookin at #7, #80, DACP, #26, and #82

which would be the "best" combination?

Best combination for what? What is your paint like? If your paint is in decent shape with no major defects, you can go #80 > #81 > #16/#26/#20/NXT (whichever of the 4 toppers you prefer).
