? Over SG on Black

Well I finally finished my wives 96 ES 300 and it turned out great! I have AIO and 2 coats of SG on it at the moment. Should I put one more coat of SG and then top it with 16? Or just use 16 right now? This is a daily driver for her so I might not get to wax it but every month or so. I hope to actually post some pics soon.

It couldn't hurt to add another layer. The #16 is quite durable, but I'd feel better knowing the extra layer of SG was on there for protection personally.

zippymbr, black can look really wet and deep like a pool of water depending on the LSP you use.

#16 is an outstanding wax that is very glossy and reflective that works at its best with lighter colours, IMO.

Have you thought of trying a different carnauba that brings out the depth of black?

I'm not implying anything negative about what you're presently using...they're all first class and I use them too.

Its just that KSG and #16 raises the reflection but lowers the depth. With a different combo you'll be able to swim in the depth that black can produce!

It's just a thought. :nixweiss

Im with Paul ( Alfisti ) - Id go with P21S or something like that after 3 layers of SG. You said that you will wax it every other month so durability is taken out of the equation so to speak. Go for more of a beauty wax with reasonable durability rather than a wax that looks reasonable but with better durability. If done right, the sealant with regular upkeep of the wax will last a lazy 6 months or more treated right......;)

This is good info to know. Since I have never used 16 your advice is well recieved. I might have to go order some PS21 or another LSP that looks great on black. Keep it coming guys.

Who has the best price for S100?

You can pick up a jar at your local Harley-Davidson dealership. The price escapes me right now, but it's not expensive. I wanna say it's like $12-$17ish. Well worth it.
