Out: 6:15am , In: 10:05pm - 4 cars in a day

Good Morning.

I'm posting this the day after in a very sore state :). A long day, to say the least. I left the apartment at 6:15am and didn't return until 10:05. The trip was about 1.5 hours each way and I worked for 12 straight hours with a total of maybe 25 minutes in breaks.

I detailed for a client of mine from last year. Marco had me out to challenge myself to do four cars for him. It consisted of 4 exteriors, 3 interiors, and 2 engines (not all pictured). Thinking that I would never finish, I employed Patrick_Holland for half of the day. He arrived a little after lunch and we were able to slightly exceed our goal of finishing at 8pm; we finished at 7:30pm.

The vehicles were located in Queens, NY. From my experiences, these vehicles take the most abuse in the entire country. Even though two were done last year, they had heavy fallout, overspray, tar, etc. In an understatement, we had our work cut out for us.

First up, the Maxima.

You can piece together the subtle mods for yourself, but as far as paintwork, the car was in pretty nice shape. Moderate swirling, but none of it was deep. The horizontals had heavy fallout and rail dust, though. My finals were:

-CG Extreme Wash
-Zaino Z18 Clay
-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut and Optimum Car Polish (2 lines, side-by-side) via rotary and LC Cutting Pad @ 1500 rpm
-Blackfire Ceramiclear Finishing Polish via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1200rpm
-Z6 wipedown
-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd)

-Z16 on tires
-CG VRT cut 2:1 in wells; full strength on trim

Next was the Durango.

This truck had HEAVY overspray and chewed through almost an entire bar of clay. The swirls were minimal, thank goodness. Finals were:

-CG Extreme Wash
-Meguiar's Aggressive Overspray Clay
-Optimum Car Polish via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1200rpm
-Z6 wipedown
-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd)

-Z16 on tires
-CG VRT cut 2:1 in wells; full strength on trim

Next, a 240SX (sleeper).

Heavy staining and tar buildup. The car is 14 years old, but not in terrible shape. This detail is pretty much "holding over" the owner until the project is complete. Finals were:

-CG Extreme Wash
-Meguiar's Aggressive Overspray Clay
-Optimum Car Polish/Poorboy's Pro Polish via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1200rpm
-Z6 wipedown
-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd)

-Z16 on tires
-CG VRT cut 2:1 in wells; full strength on trim

Lastly, the main event, a Ford Mustang.

When the owner pulled in, I thought to myself, "this is going to be a longgg day". The car was barely black, but more of a dull grey. Contaminants, swirls, holograms, ferrous oxide, burnt paint, oxidation, you name it. Patrick and I made it happen with this one...

-CG Extreme Wash
-Zaino Z18 Clay
-Hi-Temp Extreme Cut via rotary and wool pad @ 1500 rpm
-Optimum Car Polish via rotary and LC Polishing Pad @ 1200rpm
-Z6 wipedown
-Zaino Z5 Pro (ZFX'd)

-Z16 on tires
-CG VRT cut 2:1 in wells; full strength on trim

Comments, questions, advice, feel free.

Its not the work that surprises me, because I've seen that from you before, its the 4 in one day deal I don't get. I can do maybe 2 in a day. But 4? Thats just, WOW!

You must never stop or skip a beat while detailing huh?

Amazing work once again, that mustang looks totaly different now. I was never a big fan of dark grey, but the Maxima came out great. Your arms must be falling off by now, mine hurt after doing one rough car never mind four.

I wouldn't have believed all of that could be accomplished in one day. Sore? I'd be out cold for a day!

Beautiful results in all cases.

Great Work Sean, All the vehicles are pristine now. Most of all you and patrick did the work ungodly fast!!

Greg

Great work! Yes I'm sure both of you are tired, thats a lot of detailing. They all turned out great. WOW! Is all I've got to say about the job you did with the mustang.

I've done 3 in one day but man you are a GOD!

mine was two full details and one wash wax for a steady customer...I still had to hussle....Great work!!!!!

Awesome, Sean. Not only the work quality, but the work ethic required to get those done in one day is very impressive.

Amazing turnaround on that Mustang, I bet (hope!) the owner was ecstatic.

Andrew

Out of curiosity is it me or is that an awfully large distance between the tire and the fender top? Although that could be the reason why it has only 4 lugnuts. Just curious.

Thank you.

joyride: We were working very diligently in order to complete all four before sundown.

MaximaLover: The Blackfire Ceramiclear Polish works wonderfully on the lights. They were pitted up close, but not that bad.

Stephan: Patrick and I agreed on that. Suspension is the next order of business along with some trick 19s. Its a work in progress, I guess.

It only has 4 bolts because the axle requires 4x100.

As for the gap, Its huge. Note the aluminum foil inside the wheel gap.

Your work is stunning as always! But like said earlier, what really impresses me is that you got 4 vehicles turned out while keeping the same quality I always see from you.

Unreal. 4 in ONE day?

The 3rd shot of the Maxima is an award winner -Wow!

I think BF Ceramiclear Finishing Polish makes a WORLD of difference when using Z. It's a stunning base compared to FPII or ZPC (which is what I usually finish with these days).
