OTC Paint Cleaner

I'm going to help my friend detail his car this weekend since I'm just learning how to use the udm and all that other good stuff but I was wondering what is a great OTC paint cleaner that I can use on his 2000 Honda Accord?

well here was my plan for his car since it hasn't really been properly taken care of.

1. wash with megs gold class

2. clay the **** out his car with clay magic or a more aggressive clay first.

3. paint cleaner

4. polish with UDM and PB 2.5 and 1 OR megs #83

5. klasse sealant

6. S100 carnauba wax

Klasse SG will not bond over 83 or PB 2.5. You will need a product *like* klasse AIO underneath.

No need to use a paint cleaner before polishing.

yenwen- IMO you oughta use Klasse All-in-One before their sealant. In the absence of that product, I'd use a wax instead (like theS100).

I'm assuming by "Klasse sealant" you mean the Klasse Sealant Glaze, and not their All-in-One (which is a type of paint cleaner that leaves behind some minimal protection).

And yeah, between the claying and the polishing I don't see any need for a separate paint cleaning step.

I'd expect you to need a milder polish after the PB's SSR2.5 and/or #83. I haven't used the 2.5, but #83 never finished out ready-to-wax for me; the finish always looked better after I went over it again with a milder polish like Meguiar's #80.

For future reference, a decent OTC paint cleaner is Meguiar's Deep Crystal Step #1 Cleaner. Doesn't leave any protection behind the way Color-X does though.

haha i borrowed some stuff from a friend that used to detail so i'll take a look at what he lent me and post an update but at this point no not really. I think i can get the megs 80 from my local superautobacs.

you could polish then wipe the car down with 50/50 of IPA with water

it should remove the polishing oils then you could use SG
