OT: A little Irony

I was watching MTV's Cribs, and was watching this guy that an Escalade (?s.p.) From the shots they showed you could see ALOT of swirls, seems like if you had 55k to blow on a made over Tahoe, and millions to spend on a house, you could atleast afford a decent detail on your ride.

If you've ever seen the movie, "I Spy" with Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson, look at the stretch Navigator in the air port scene. The thing is so full of the most intense swirls I've ever seen.

That is really bad...nice car and horrible detail. I saw a show on TLC about the President's limo. That limo was completely full of swirls. I was amazed that the govt cant get a decent detailer.

I noticed that one too... even the wife did :lol

The problem is that you are infected with a disease.... you are now able to see swilr marks now where they weren't before. The majority of people won't notice them or will even think they are "normal". A neighbor of my parents even likes them.....

Almost every Formula One car has terrible swirls. If your going to spend upwards of $300 million to put two cars on 16 tracks a year, they could at least polish them.

I know....I remember stopping by the local Chevy dealership when the 50th Anniversary Corvette was out. There, sitting on the showroom floor, was a brand-new 50th AE Vette with swirls. And I'm talking big swirls....

One of the salesman approaches me and says, 70's-era cheesily, "Isn't she a beauty? Wouldn't you like to drive her out of here?"

I take a step back and say "Where did those cool holograms come from", pointing to the hood.

Without missing a beat, '70's Man replies "Oh, those are part of the 50th Anniversary 'Special Paint' Package."

They never learn. Ever. But I, and my fellow Autopians, can see those swirls from 1000 feet!

I saw that show and noticed the swirls on "The Beast" too.

I think we can forgive the Secret Service, they might have a few other things on their minds. Besides, nobody's supposed to get close enough to the Pres to see that kind of thing.

PC.

Honestly, I don't think they care - unfortunately. They just don't see that part of car ownership the way we do.

There was a post here a while back some dude went to a Ferrari show in Cali somewhere and he took some pics. Glossy paint, but no prep work -swirls everywhere. It was as if these owners bought wax and simply waxed once or twice a year, that's it.

I must say though, that I was impressed overall with the finishes on most of the Barrett-Jackson cars. Even under those intense halogen stage lights, I still found myself not being able to detect much swirling on a majority of those rides.

I notice them at car shows on cars behind the ropes that have been trucked in.

When I asked to get closer to a BMW on display they said no, I said "Are you worried im going to remove the swirls"..... They had "Detailers" using a shop rag (in circles no less) with a blue liquid im guesing was windex.

That drives me nuts

Ug, yeah, I know what you mean, I went to the Chicago Auto Show last Saturday, I don't think I saw a single car without swirls or halo scratches.

Of course, by the time I got to the more expensive cars in the smaller room, I was too tired to notice, so some of them might have been fine.
