[Orinda Auto Detail]

So here we go again with some really hard paint! YAY! This car was being handed down to the customers daughter who just turned 16 so he wanted to get it as close to new as possible(must be nice at 16 lol) We decided on multiple steps and Opti coat since niether had any faith a 16 year old would even try to keep up with waxing. This was 2nd time using Opti Coat and I took cues from the first time and asked for the car to stay over night so that it could cure as I ended up redoing the first car when I saw it a week later :wall.

Started out with wash and decon using 50/50 dawn citrus was foam followed by 2 buckets x2 grit gaurds wash.
Speedy prep towel used followed by 3m perfect it clay in a few places
Lots of tape.
Correction steps were carried out with Menz SIP and Orange CCS pad Dewalt 849x
SRC Finishing polish White CCS pad dewalt 849x
IPA
Red CCS pad SRC finishing 849x
IPA
Opti Coat

Swirl city, some rids, later I discovered sanding scratches in a few place I guess from factory??

This was my test spot 1 pass SIP most swirls gone a few rids remain I figured I was on right track

finishing a panel at a time moving around the car taking a while to get it all dialed the paint is hard...

And next morning quick dust down after opti coat. DONE!

Sort of highjacking the thread but what IPA percentage did you use? I bought OC 2.0 for my truck and was already to coat it and started reading horor stories on a couple of other sites about it failing in just a few months. General concesus was it was from the paint not being clean enough from using IPA only. OPT recommends IPA on their site but now is saying in the thread Eraser, Prep Sol or Mineral Spirits or use their polishes. Holding off for now until a few more experienced people chime in on their procedure. Too much work to have it fail in a few months.

Full strength IPA wipe down right before application I did it a panel at a time. Seemed to work but like I said I'm new with OC my self the first car I did got all screwed up and I had to redo it.
