Orange Pad Turned Gray

So i washed a couple pads along with some towels today after some light polishing and when i pulled them out of the washer, the orange pad was gray. it still had the same feel to it but every trace of orange was gone. i had them soaking in a citrus pad cleaner for a bit before i put them in the wash and did two rinses with 4oz vinegar. anyone know what happened?
 
Sounds like the pad cleaner took the dye out. Did you notice the water it was soaking in a different color or the pad?
 
the water i let it soak in was orange but that is because the cleaner was an orange powder. it didnt turn gray till after i washed it in the washing machine. im assuming there would be no harm in using it still
