For sometime I have had a problem with ghosting on my windscreen, when the wipers are been used. I have tried using rubbing alcohol and vinegar. Following a tip from RonK I also tried lighter fluid.
These all served to clean the glass, but the ghosting was still there. So I spent a few hours and visited as many dealers and body shops as I could. Several places tried to get me to pay for buffing the glass or to sell me their general glass cleaners, but 4 firms said I should try the Jaguar Screen Clean Paste.
I visited the local Jaguar dealership parts department, the man gave me a bottle to try free of charge and said Jaguar were about to introduce a new formula paste but to give this stuff a try. He took the time to explain how to use it and I am sure if I had asked for a demonstration he would have done it. I cannot say how impressed I was. The whole place was utterly spotless and very friendly.
The bottle needs to be firmly shaken and applied in a zigzag pattern across the glass and then rubbed with a soft cloth, I used a MF towel. The paste is a white pasty liquid which I guess contains a polish. I worked the paste all across the glass and left it alone for 30 minutes. The parts man said leave it for at least 20 minutes. I can only guess that it needs this time to chemically interact with the windscreen.
On return I wiped it off with another MF towel, there was a lot of white dust so it was a little bit messy, but not really a big problem.
I poured some clear water over the windscreen to try the wipers. The result was a big improvement. There was still some signs of ghosting but dramatically reduced. I am confident that with another few applications I could eliminate the ghosting.
For me, which stuff worked wonders on my car, I also do not discount the idea that it is a culmination of using lighter fluid, vinegar etc, but the Jaguar paste is the product that made the biggest improvement. The instructions say it can be used monthly or in severe conditions every two weeks.
In summary, the Jaguar product seems to be a polish and may also chemically interact with the glass, and considering it was free of charge and cleaned my glass of ghosting I consider this to be a bit of a find.
