Optimum Temp for Product Storage

So I`m remodeling our kitchen. Putting in all new black stainless appliances. I plan on putting my old fridge in the garage. Other than my paste waxes what other detailing products would benefit being stored in it?

we typically tell people that the products will bear the same temperatures you could if you were naked :D

heat does less damage overall than freezing :)

What is the temp threshold for being too hot? Like when you leave it above this temp the entire summer, it will make the product go bad very quickly.

it really depends on the product .. polishes and liquid waxes are made and mixed cold and it`s the solvent that is in it that would determine what extremes it could take... solid waxes are poured hot, real hot .. so depending on the wax most can take heat ... QD`s really should not be affected other than a possible color or scent change .. but then again I am talking about my products, others may vary a little depending on the chemicals in use

Thanks!

I`m mainly curious about polishes, compounds, liquid waxes and sealants...

When I first started, I left everything in the garage. My polishes separated after a few years. Our temps reach 110-120F during summer...

What about in FL? I think you guys reach the 90s during summer right? Is it OK to leave the polishes/compounds/liquid LSPs in the garage? **Ahem Ron**

if it is sealed well and kept out of direct sun light you stand a better chance of them lasting longer

Yeah the garage is an attached garage so the products are out of direct sunlight.

So 110F ambient temps isn`t a problem for compounds, polishes and liquid LSPs?

I just moved all my stuff from the garage into the house (well a lot of it at least)

now I`m getting an ac for the garage- but not to keep my products cool. to keep ME cool. I like storing them inside all lined up next to each other like I have my own detailing supply room :)

it should not be a problem .. but consult each mfg if you want to be cautious .. even though many may last years .. I would keep them no longer than 3-5 years tops !!

I would bring all the important chemicals into the house and at least half of the beer into the garage!

So keep the waxes out then. It will stock water and my beverage of choice... Gallon jugs of Milos Sweet Tea.

Thanks
