Optimum Opti-Clay Towel ?

Its about time for me to replace my Speedy Prep towel. I wonder how the Optimum towel would compare in effectiveness and longevity ? I certainly like the price.

I'd assume is the same as the nanoskin autoscrub handy towel (almost identical in price) just colored differently from the manufacturer. (Not facts, just skepticism) I'll wait to see if anyone does a longevity test on it before I think about purchasing :)

Working on it!

In the meantime you can always call Vega if you'd like to order one. :rockon

Glad to hear you are on it. I would rather wait order here, have a speedy prep towel thats fine just at the price opti towel is at could get extra and both grades. You know you can never have enough toys to play with.:lol2:

Used mine, similar to Nanoskin although I have the Fine Grade for now. It pulls dirt out for sure.

I have been using Tarminator and a plastic scrubbie to detar. I would be interested in a sample to try it. That is if there is any. I don't do any ten hour details, I am on the road many times, not in a shop. I cant spend a lot of time. But my rotary doesn't leave much in the way of contaminants behind. In other words, might be over-kill for me.

Not even close to the same. ;)

That statement is all too common on discussion forums. :(

What are the differences?

I know the application type is patented but what differences exist between the towels and such? Is Optimum's fine finer than Nanoskin's for example?

what i saw was price 25$ half the price. competition is pushing them down the market to their true price.

Not sure there is a real good answer. I have heard claims from manufacturers of 25 to as high as 100 cars from one towel. I would guess if you notice it starting to mar a car more or if you notice it becoming ineffective and not pulling contaminants out/off of the paint. I will use mine 20 times or so then I will probably downgrade it to other duties whether that be bringing it to work to use on my work trucks or using it for rims or making older one a dedicated towel for lower body panels and behind wheels rear diffuser.

I used the fine grade Optimum Towel for the first time this morning and I tested it against a Speedy Surface Fine Towel and a Nanoskin Fine Wash Mitt and my initial impression is that it is the least aggressive. Which is great imo. It fills a needed gap between softer original clay bars and these more aggressive clay bar alternatives. I'll test again this week on a soft black panel to test marring, but for now I do think it's less aggressive than other fine grade towels.

WOW, it is 24.99 and as of right now on sale for 19.99. Going to have to do inventory this week and see what I need and get an order ready. Thank you Vega!

I've never understood how these towels work... where do the contaminates go? For example, clay you mead to get to a clean side of clay... what do you do with this towel? Do they rinse off?

You use it the same as you would clay but no kneading necessary. Spray the surface with lube, go over surface with towel, and after working a little section dunk it in a bucket of water, rub it a bit to get contaminates off and back to work.
