Optimum OCW spray wax vs Turtle Wax hard shell paste, how does the result compare?

Turtle Wax hard shell is a mass produced cheap paste wax available everywhere. It has the texture of a firm pudding.

It is applied and dried to haze and buffed off.

Optimum OCW is a almost water thin low viscosity spray wax. Just spray on and wipe dry.

The only thing obvious is that the Turtle wax requires substantially more effort.

I haven't had the chance to try two products side by side on a car on a car way overdue for wax yet..

How do these two compare in longevity, protection and dirt repellency? How well do they hold up to washing it rains a lot here in Oregon...

OCW by a country mile. Plus, no dust, no effort, trim-friendly, goes on all surfaces without staining.

The only thing the TW does that OCW doesn't, is it has a paint cleaner and abrasives. I wouldn't make any bets on durability though, it would be an interesting test.

OCW will win, hands down. It is a great product for a good price.

Haven't used OCW but have tried the turtle hard shell. Mind you, not on a car, and was glad of it! Used it on an old toy wagon with enameled paint. Tried it against Megs NXT Gen, (which in itself isn't all that amazing) I couldn't get a decent shine on the turtle, but the NXT came up glossy. Left it for a day and came back for a second coat - no better. Plus the Turtle seemed to take off some of the paint - sponge went all pink, the NXT didn't do that. Personally I wouldn't use it.

From what I've read the natural waxes last longer, the new synthetics give higher gloss. But there are so many products out there, maybe try one with a blend of both. I also found the turtle to be hard to buff off, there are better waxes out there. the OCW is easy to apply though.

I want a moderate shine that lasts over exceptional immaculate look that lasts one wash or rain.

I got my car rained on hard. Two days in a row. That's to be expected in the Pacific NW. After I washed it again, and reapplied OCW to half the hood, the difference between reapplied section and the section that was applied before the rain was clear.

Turtle is a cleaner wax. It usually dirties up the sponge. However, when I applied it after I've clayed the car, it didn't transfer anything noticeable onto the pad.
