Optimum Finish Polish

All,

Last year, 2011, I bought a 32 oz bottle of Optimum Finish Polish wanting to try the product, but never got to use it as I used up the last of some Menzerna I had.

I began polishing my Yukon this morning, and after doing some minor correction with Poorboy's SSR 2.5, I opened the Optimum, shook it very well, and poured it on a finishing pad. To my surprise, it was all liquid, more like milk than the consistency of polish I'm used to. I didn't use it and reached for some more Menzerna.

For those of you who have used this product: is this the normal consistency of the polish or is the product defective? I'm hesitant to use it as it looks more like Zaino than what I expected.

Thanks!

Harry

Its not a thick polish but I dont remember it being THAT thin. If I wasnt completely exhausted I would walk out to the garage to double check. I used it a couple times but didnt like it. To me, SSR1 and Menzerna out performs it.

I believe my original formula of Hyper Compound (which I didn't use for months after I bought it) was the same way. I don't use it often.

Thanks for the replies. I just don't see how the consistency is really indicative of how the product should be. Probably best to pitch it and continue on with the Poorboy's / Menzerna combo. These have never let me down as far as results go. But you know how it is, every once in a while I get the itch to try something different.

A safe holiday to everyone!

Harry.

Is not thin but does tend to separate. Shake it very, very well until nearly the consistency of toothpaste.

At least that is mine. Who knows, maybe mine is bad. ;)

It is thin, not quite like water...but thin. Shake it up, try it, and return it to your retailer if not satisfied. We have a satisfaction guarantee.

I ran into this very same thing a while back. You might want to call or e-mail Optimum and ask about the shelf life of your product. I haven't had issues with other brands but there seems to be a shelf life time table with some or the Optimum products. Kind of frustrating to get ready to work on something and the polish has turned to liquid. I shook the snot out of mine and couldn't get it back to normal.

Thanks again for the replies, guys. I also shook the bottle very well and remained very milky. Threw it on a pad and ran it over a buddy's beater car door. After smearing it over the door it ran down the length of the panel like liquid window cleaner. It didn't even work it right, so I'm sure it's hosed.

Chris, I'm sure Optimum has a guarantee, but I don't even remember what online store I purchased it from, no receipt and would probably cost a third of what I spent to return it. C'est la vie

I think to write it off without using it is mistake. And as for consistency, Ultrafina is hardly thicker than water too. I checked mine after reading your post and it is a little milky, but it still works fine. If you do want to return it directly to us, you can ship it USPS for about $4 and we catch the shipping back to you.
