Someone sent me some of this and i will be trying it on my motorcycle this weekend. It's got a fesh coat of NXT right now and topped of with liquid performance detailer which is a heavy waxy one different than other detailers. also a few coats of #16 under it all. Can i just apply the opti seal or do i have to somehow remove all the previous stuff? Also, how do you apply this stiff? he sent me a small vial, but i have no instructions.

3 rules with Opti Seal... thin, thin, thin! A couple of spritzes on a foam pad (some prefer MF pads) and start spreading using overlaps. The stuff is almost impossible to see on light colors. If you're in doubt if you need more product press your pad up against paint or glass and look for the smear. Most times when you think you need additional product you don't! No buff or final wipe required... although I don't know anyone that can resist a final wipe to revel in the slickness and shine.
The link to the Opti Seal FAQS on the Optimum Web site appears defunct... one of the topics indicates that Opti Seal over other LSPs emulsifies them and brings them to the top leaving Opti Seal next to the paint. I've had excellent results using OS over several other sealants and waxes. YMMV.

You really need to get it into some type of small sprayer (that sprays a fine mist) to use it correctly, otherwise you will use way too much. Apply it to a MF applicator, then apply to the paint. 2-3 pumps per fender is all that is needed.
I would remove the prior wax/sealant before applying. Use the alcohol wipedown method.

What he said. I agree with stripping, while you can use it on top of lots of stuff, how will you know how it looks on its own? Also, you need 24 hours before it really gets its "look."

Because you`ve only a sample to use, just apply it straight over your existing protection using a small make up pad.
That way you will get an idea of the look etc and decide if you want to buy, its not expensive after all.

whats the longevity on this stuff? and does it compare to "regular" waxes and sealants? i guess i'm just looking for somethign to compare this too

So far i think the only waxes I've really had any experience with is NXT Collinite 845 476 915 and way back when I actually worked for a detailer I THINK it was 1000p that I was putting down...I mean so far collinite seems to be pretty good with dirt shedding (bird bomb almost had me at a panic because i can't do much now that I'm recovering from shoulder surgery, but light hosing got it right off with no staining .... :whew: )
