Opti-Seal Is Amazing

I kind of got burned out on the detailing hobby last year because new products were coming out at such a dizzying rate, it was hard to keep up with and try the newest "latest and greatest." Last stuff I bought was ZPC and Z8 to go along with some Z2Pro I had. I did both of my vehicles over the winter with Collinite and just let them be. I think I touched them up with some AW a couple of times to get them through the harsh months.

Anyway, I still have been reading Autopia and seeing all the new "latest and greatest" and was about ready to pull the trigger on Zaino Z-CS when I saw a few people mention durabilty concerns. I figured at that point I'd sit it out a few more weeks and wait for the dust to settle. During that time, OS caught my eye. I did a preorder and as luck would have it, it showed up the next day since it was shipped direct.

So anyway, this was a relatively quick detail and I wasnt sure what to expect. I washed the car with Duraglass soap in a foam gun, ran over it with Poli-Seal with a PC and a white polishing pad and then put OS on the car. The first day I was like "Meh.. whatever" but here it is a few days later and Im just blown away by how the car looks. Please ignore that its not spotless. I wasnt planning on posting pics and it has been a few days so there's been some bug kamakazi on the windshield, etc.

So.. here's some photos of the car. I can honestly say the car has never looked better. The paint looks about 2 feet deep.

Yea. Im just blown away by this stuff. I cant believe the car looks this good and I really didnt put much effort into the detail.

Preaching to the choir... This is the best new product I have used in a while. I have yet to see something so simple make such great looks on my paint.

Looks great! Please keep us updated on the durability of OS. I am, at this point, more interested in OS than CS, but I'm still not sure. Both CS and OS need to be faily durable for me to even consider them worthwhile for my uses. The car looks great, but looks only go so far with me, when my vehicles sit outside 24/7.

Regards,

Mike

Im in the same boat as you. Where that car is in those photos is where it stays unless Im driving it. I kind of feel like I got burned on OCW because the durability on that stuff was really mediocre at best (I still got almost a full gallon sitting in my garage on the shelf) so Im hoping this stuff goes a few months but even if it doesnt, what you see there is 3x on the top panels and 2x on the side panels and it takes MAYBE 10 minutes to put on a coat so if it has to be touched up every 4-6 weeks, I can live with that.

Cool, I know exactly what you mean. I was pretty disappointed with OCW as a protectant, so that is keeping me just a tad shy in ordering the OS as well, and the CS reports haven't really blown me away. Your car does look very sweet and I'm sure it looks 10x better in person, I just hope it's well protected. Thanks for sharing! :2thumbs:

Have you washed the OS yet? How is the beading? I'm not sure where you got the idea the CS wasn't durable as I've read of 6+ months stand alone durability.

I washed my White car, and posted pics following that wash in my previous thread. The water just sheets off. It was beautiful to watch.

Not sure why you don't use OCW every time you wash. It is so easy to work with. I find

most people use a QD every time they wash any way. Just my thoughts on this.

Keep us posted as to how it performs after several washes. I've heard it looks very good but the poor durablilty of OCW has me a bit skeptical of OS. As for the sheeting issue I have mixed feelings. Most products that sheet after a couple washes tend to pool water after a couple more. As for sheeting my Z2pro sheets but that is after 5 months of winter.

I was using AW after the washes. Its a little easier to apply than OCW and lasts longer. OCW does look better tho.

Looking good! Interesting, find AW is a better last step, while OCW is just a nice touch to wipe down. Both are good.

NC Winters are nothing!

We need to put my RED RX8 side by side with opti-seal ..... We would have two great looking cars! OS is amazing!

Well, I read the whole post and am still confused, and I have been coming here since last year. These acronyms are totally out of hand!

Changeling

Really nice and wet. I'm interested as to whether this is the right thing for a winter protective coat. For the summer "wet" paint is the rule. How will it hold up to the bugs at 75?
