Opti-Seal hammering my Z2-Pro

Cleaning Fool

About 4 weeks ago I polished the wifes white/off white Volvo station wagon, then Hit it with Z2 Pro..Hmmm, ho hum, looked ok but I thought it could be better. So I got some Opti-seal in a trade. Washed it yesterday, I hit it with 1 coat of Opti-seal before dark. This morning I hit it with 1 more coat....YOWZER...it raised the gloss level X2. The best the paint has ever looked! I love it..Even my beloved Z2 didn't look near this good! My 2008 product of the year!...PS..This is a reference to white/off white paint only and is based off initial appearance only, with durability not a factor.

I agree that OOS is great on shine, but some users have reported that it mutes metallic flakes. Personally, I'm not sure about this, since I have not tried it on metallic paint, but is def something to be on the lookout.

Durability is great, though...

I have not used it on metallic paint, but it sure is easy to get great results. And to think Autogeek had buy one get one free a couple weeks ago and I passed because I had not tried it yet.

OOS looks stunning on my white Audi. It pops, shimmers, glimmers, etc. I've had one layer of OOS on my white Audi for 3 week now, and it has gone through 3 ONR washes plus lots of rain (I'm in the Pacific NW where it rains forever...). The gloss is still outstanding, what can I say? I'm planning to do some minor correction next month, and I'll layer 3 coats of OOS and post pics here.

The gloss is like whoa, i love it

My wife has this light blue metallic KIA minivan. I OOS'd the whole thing today. Windows, Trim, Badges, Paint, Rims, Roof Rack/Rails/Crossbars, Mirrors....

Love this stuff!

When it comes to Zaino and white, I like the combo ZAIO with CS or Z5Pro. I had a white vehicle and that looked as anything even carnuba's. Maybe it's just me but Z2Pro has a shine that hides the depth on white. Z2Pro looks deep on other colors in my opinion, just not white-:nixweiss

:werd: I use it on my metallic grey Maxima, looks great.

Scott - I think Bence means it makes flake come alive - a good thing ;)

I've always though OS does a great job. Just so easy to use as well so it makes a great package. Wish it could be layered quickly though....

he is agreeing already

at first glance the smilie looked like it said WEIRD..

what are you guys getting for durability...I am in the market for a longer lasting sealant, dont want zaino though...just dont care for it

Damon, theoretically you can put your next OOS layer on after 20-30 minutes.

toyotaguy, for me OOS lasts at least 4 months on 24/7 outside DDs.

Bence do you top it with anything else or just OOS?

I just OOS'd the wife's minivan and I'm debating putting 476S over the top for the winter here.

Usually I'm using OOS alone, except when I spray OCW and/or OID on it.

"Winter" is an interesting thing in NM. Your winter is the rough equivalent of say, Finland's summer :D. I'm using heavy waxes for the true winters - aka consistent temps below freezing, lots of grime, mud, salt, snow and ice.

But seriously, for the NM winter I'd leave OOS alone, and I'd use OID and/or OCW on it as necessary.

I've seen OOS mute flake but only when too much is applied. It will make the paint look milky (does it on any color). Just go back later and buff some of the excess off with a qd/distilled water. I personally love OOS on my metallic grey car.

Have you lived in NM Bence?

Albuquerque is 5000 feet and there is a 10,000 foot mountain with a ski area visible from my front door.

Santa Fe is 45 minutes north of here and it's the highest elevation state capital city in the US (IE higher than Denver).

It's below freezing almost all winter here and we get snow in Albuquerque 2-3 times a winter...

Funny everybody seems to think New Mexico is just a desert! We don't have as much precip as the Pacific NW or the NE but we do have four seasons here!

That was a joke, that's why I included the :D smiley.

I know how the winters are there. AFAIK, during this period it must be around 15-20°C daytime and around 5-0°C at night. But dunno exactly obviously.
