Opti-Seal Application Time

Carticular

I recently purchased Opti-Seal and have applied it to a couple of my cars, 2 coats each. I see some people can apply it in about 10 minutes but it takes me at least 30 minutes for each coat. What are some tips to help me cut down the time it takes to apply a layer? Is it proper lighting, trust in the product, circular motions?

If the car is clean and dry I don't see how it could take more than 10 minutes. I mist (2 sprays on the first panel and 1 spray per panel after the first one) and very lightly wipe each panel. I usually go both side to side and up and down to ensure coverage. I end up using about 12 sprays per application and it takes less than 1 minute per spray. My guess is that you are applying way too much product. IMO the less you put on the better job it will do.

Use less product, apply only when the applicator starts to drag. Get familiar with how many sprays a particular panel will take. It will get better with time.

It's not that I'm putting much on, I just feel like I'm missing spots so I go over a section very carefully and check it visually. This is probably where I can speed things up, it's just so different than what I'm used to.

Thanks, that's good to hear!

I had someone once tell me to swipe the applicator on one of the windows if I ever had doubts that the pad was releasing product (the idea being that it is easier to see the product on the glass surface). It really helped build my confidence that I was using enough. On some finishes it can be a little hard to see.
