Opinions solicited on MF GSM

I know there are different preferred GSM counts for different / specific things they are used for--
But overall , in general ,if you mainly could only have one GSM count for all of your towels---
What towel brand and count (esp.) would you choose.
I got hoodwinked into buying those red ones from the self proclaimed MF "snobs" and they are still giving off the red dye after a half dozen washings

If I could only have once case of micros and they had to do everything I needed from wheels to coating removal I would go with a case of the rag company eagle edgeless 350 in lavender no question. I find myself reaching for them more often than their more plush family members. The plushier ones are nicer, yes, but for other jobs like polish removal or coating removal I prefer the lower gsm.

Yep...they do nearly everything I need very well. Rag Co goofed up last time I ordered and sent me yellow 350`s; sounds silly but they just didnt seem the same as lavender

Glad I didnt order the yellow ones then!
Eagle 350`s are nice but I would choose the Edgeless 365 from TRC for an all around towel.
Those were a real close second for one towel only. I actually just talked myself out of buying a case earlier today. I might change my mind tomorrow though.

The grey ones seem the softest to me.

I like the nap/weave better of the 365 if only one towel for everything. Agreed on the grey ones veing softest.

I`ve noticed that with some of their other products. The cyclone mitts for example the blue ones felt plusher when dry than the grey ones, also a touch wider too. Though they seem the same soaked in soap and water so no big deal. I grabbed up a bunch of the purple Wowo branded ones that were half priced on Black Friday (I guess they phased out the Wowo line from the store?). Also on the pearl weave towels, the green ones were a little less dense than the purple ones ordered at another time.

As for the thread, agreed on the eagle 350s. I even grabbed up some 8x8" sized ones with the BF order.

Love the little eaglettes. I have the 350 and 500 ones.

I wonder what factor the color died has to do with tactile feel.

Your question about microfiber quality and fiber density (IE; grams per square meter or GMS) has a parallel question that I started a thread about: Which specific microfibers to use for specific detailing tasks? It`s worth taking a look at. Please see:
https://www.autopia.org/forums/car-...ask-list-autopian-suggestions.html?highlight=

Microfiber quality has always been a subject of debate in this forum. For the most part I think the consensus is (was) that Korean-made and German-made microfibers are some of the best you can buy. I wish I knew more about microfiber chemistry and manufacturing processes and techniques. Needless, to say, like many things, you get what you pay for.

To me, microfibers are one of the most over-looked items in the detailing process. Poor quality, dirty/contaminated, or the wrong type of microfibers can ruin a lot of hard, tedious detailing work and/or produce less-than-acceptable detailing results, and it frustrates a novice or inexperienced detailer and makes them wonder why. Hence, my started thread linked above.

It`s only 10 of `em...aren`t you more of a `case of towels` kinda guy?

I`m just pleased they`re not yellow.
Well our work gave us a Visa gift card so I just threw it down to lower cost on a case of grey edgeless 365s so I guess you have a point there.
