I joined the better car care.com forum, but after lurking around I found something interesting. Discussions about products other than the ones they sell are limited to only one place. :shocked I don't know about you, but it seems a little biased to me. What do others think?

Yeah, I found it hard to have a decent and educational conversation about detailing when my vocabulary was limited to the items they sell.

I suppose you have a problem with Meguiar's Online being for Meguiar's products too, huh? Or the Mother's forum being just for Mother's products?

I guess I fail to see the problem :nixweiss

Should be happy that they have a forum to go with the store.. How many other vendors have forums on their site just for asking questions about products they sell?

Yeah, I don't post there all that often as I simply don't use the supported products. But I don't see anything wrong with the concept. It's a "specific store-centric" forum. A place for people to discuss the stuff they have bught/might buy from them.

Think of it as an "electronic information booth" in the BCC store.

Heh heh, also gotta remember that the "Ask the Car Girl" forum is supposed to be answered by BCC employees. Sometimes it's tempting to toss your $0.02 in where it doesn't belong :o

No I do not have problems with manufacturers websites that also have forums, but this is a forum that sells product.

I learned about the forum from an unsolisited email from David Bynon about this site and in no way did I get the impression it was a e-store.

By the way, Autopia also sells products but have no restrictions, right?

I'd say, it's a store that has a forum, not a forum that sells product. Mother's has a forum, too, where you only discuss Mother's products.

And, Autopia has no links to stores other than their sponsors.
