Opinions on Northern Tool Rotary?

Hi,

A friend of mine has a brand new Northern Tool rotary. He though he was buying a random orbital, so he does not want it. He has offered it to me for $50, but I don't know anything about their tools and can't imagine a $50 rotary will last long. I already have a PC and don't really need this, but would not mind trying my hand using a rotary.

Does anyone have any experience with this rotary?

Thanks,

Just something to think about. I had a Makita which I paid 3 times that price. Used it a few times a year. It died on me in 5 years. The cheaper ones might not be as balanced or have as much power, sometimes they do though, but they usually get the job done.

I actually looked at that one yesterday. The user reviews look quite good!

In the event i dont find a dewalt at my usual pawn shop surfing, ill probably buy the Northern version.

As Danase said- 6 times a year (3 cars x2) and its $10 a shot. not bad at all.

Danase said his dewalt died, not the cheaper version.

You can get the Harbor Freight Rotary on sale for $29.99 and then purchase the 2 year replacement for $10. If it breaks within that 2 year period you take it to the store and they give you a new one no questions asked.

Harbor Freight carries a couple different rotaries. The burgundy one looks to be of better quality compared to the orange one.
