Opinions on LC Polish and Finishing pads

I know all situations (finishes) are different and different people have different approaches. But I’m looking for some direction also with Lake Country pads. I’m looking for a pad to use for most of my polishing (with SSR2.5, SSR2, SSR1, PP, & PWC). Most finished I work on are not super bad. Should I be looking at the White pads for most of my work then step up to the Yellow for those occasion I need more umph?

Which pad blue or black do most people use to apply sealants or maybe even PWC?

Yellow is the most abrasive. With the Poorboy's SSR's, especially the higher #'s, many use white or step up to orange for very bad areas. For sealant/wax applications the black or white seems to be favored. Opinions will vary of course.

I prefer the orange pad for polishing especially when it is my first step. White for delicate finishes. Black for sealants and waxes. That's just my preference. There isn't much difference between the blue or black so you would be fine with either.

I generally follow the same guidelines as Troy. Specifically, I polish well-maintained vehicles with the white pad. Cars needing a little extra help get the orange pad. The black pad is good for SSR1 as a second or third polishing step (provides the look of a glaze). I use the blue pad for applying sealant.

I will typically use the orange pad with the SSR2.5 for heavy work. The white pad with the SSR2.5 works well with light marring. I have also used the SSR1 with the orange pad with success. The key is trying different combinations with both the pads and polishes. If unsure, I always start with the least abrasive and work my way up until the correction is achieved.

Good luck,

Jim

I try to only use white polishing pads on the vehicles I work with... They vary in condition but SSR2.5 and a white pad will remove a lot of swirls. I use the blue finishing pad for sealants...
