OPC on window trim

I'm not sure what it's called, but that trim around the windows on your car. Can I use OPC on that?

What is that trim made out of? Is it rubber? Is it vinyl?

OPC says it's safe to use on vinyl. If a cleaner says it's okay on vinyl, does that necessarily, or even generally, mean it's okay to use on rubber?

The trim that is touching the glass is rubber and the outer trim is normally plastic. OPC is safe for both.

Many window surrounds have both a platic trim cover (applique) a metal/rubber belt molding garnish and a rubber run channel that holds the glass in place while it goes up and down. OPC is safe on all of these parts. Not many things it's not safe on actually.

Great, thanks legacy and David.

It's looking like the only common thing you don't want to use OPC on is carpet. Or, at least it doesn't say you can use it for that in the instructions. Anyone tried OPC on carpet?

What's that stuff that makes the window trim black again? Might buy some. thing it's made buy some company called something like Werkstatt....

I use OPC everywhere, especially as a pre-wash type of cleaner. Love the stuff. I have had it accidentally dry on paint with no ill effects. Can't say that about many cleaners.

There's a few products that will make your trim black again. I've had the best luck with Chem?

Guys fade 2 black but being an aerosol it can sure make an Oily Mess

Everywhere, even on your carpets?

I don't use APCs like EVVVVVERYWHERE. But yes, I have used and still use(stain depending) OPC as a pre-spotter on carpets. The only reason I personally wouldn't use it as a shampoo(even though it would be awesome) is that its really nice and foamming and would load up tanks quickly without a de-foamer.

Levander, what are your hesitations with OPC on carpet??

I just know you're supposed to use stuff on carpets that won't leave a residue. Like the Stoner's Carpet Cleaner I got, from what I remember, it uses "dry foam" so no liquid leaks into your carpet.

In your previous post, you mention having a tank when you clean carpets. I'm guessing this means you use an extractor to clean them. I'm just spotting and vacuuming them (I'm obviously no pro)...

Having time to play around with detailing last night and today. About to hit just about the whole damn car with OPC.

I know you have to rinse it off the paint, don't let it dry there. And, I'd assume the same for leather (rinsing not with a hose, but with a mister bottle and a and wiping with a white towel to see how much is left over). But, what about the dash? After (3:1) OPC, do I have to rinse the dash off somehow?

After OPC, I plan on protecting with 303, but do I have to rinse the dash somehow after OPC, before 303?

You might want to try regular car wash strength ONR on the interior. You can use it on pretty much the entire interior, except the carpets. I don't normally do interiors, just my own cars, but with a 9 (actually, he turns 10 today) boy, 4 year old girl and 14 year old parrot (yes, he rides in the cars with us... but he's potty trained so interior is safe), the interior of the wife's SUV gets pretty nasty. The nasty areas are spot cleaned with an APC, then the entire car is cleaned, and the APC areas rinsed, with an ONR damp rag. The ONR will help remove any residual APC. ONR is a great interior maintenance product.

For exterior trim, Ultima Tire and Trim Guard is very good.

OPC is a poor dessert topping!
