OP in Clear bra

Yes it does have the OP look to it. I'm used to it, and it does not bother me. The average person will not notice the differance. If you don't like the look, just take it off.

One thing that annoys me is when there's dead bugs on the front bumper and you wait a few days, and then when you get a chance to wash the car.. sometimes there would be a "stain" from the bug guts.

Usually it takes a few weeks for the stain to naturally fade away.

i like the bra, just not used to the OP yet. I was really just wondering if different brands of clear film made a difference. Mine is lumar or lumex or something like that, and i was wondering if say a 3M would have less or the same or more.

I have the 3M, and heard it's probably the best brand. That's just what I read.

Don't worry about the OP look to it. You will not regret the clear bra once you had it for over a year.

i have 3M clear on all my vehicles. the 3M has the OP look because it has a cear coat on it. my C6, CTS and Avalanche are all white. C6 has the most OP but it matches the bra. the CTS has little OP but you cannot see the bra. the Avey has moderate OP and you still cannot really "see" the bra. what you CAN see thought is PERFECT paint with no chips or scratches. that's what i'm talk'in bout. :secret :grinno:

The new Venture shield has very little OP, the LLUMAR film should have very little OP, though I have heard that the new film has added texture to mask adhesive issues. The *new* 3M film is really grainy, as is the old Venture shield.

Here's a shot of the new supposedly "added OP" LLUMAR film--look just below the hatch area and you can see the film. This shouyld give you an idea of the contrast between the film and the paint. How old is the install?

How old is the film? Older film that installers have has that Orange Peel look. The film I had on my Lexus SC430 was the same, Orange Peel look to it.

The film I have on my Porsche C2S is clear. It's new 3M film.

Also, 3M purchased Ventureshield, so you have more choices as to just the front nose and 1/4 hood to full wrap of the whole vehicle if you wanted. More people go with full hood wrap, but it takes real tallent to do it.

If this film was just installed, I'd go back and ask whomever did the work to change it out to new film that is clear and that you were not aware of Orange Peel on the older films.

The obvious question is also.... It's not your paint finish now is it? :nixweiss

Deanski

This is another close up. The owner clipped another car at about 40MPH so there is a scuff, but you can get an idea of the OP. This is actually from the same roll as the 350Z above.

Mine looks just like that, i bet it is the same stuff, just its on a black car :( so you can see it in the reflections on the hood, like a 50/50 slpit lol. It was just installed last week but i have to take it back anyway because i have 2 tiny lifts across the top edge from all the snow storms we have been having. I will mention the OP to the shop and see what they say, i am still really happy i got it but i was just wondering if it was just the brand that got installed on my car or if they are all the same when it comes to what the reflections look like.

And no its not my paint, my hood is a re-spray and although it is super soft, these was no OP to the fininsh, the shop did a good job on that, i would post a pic but i dont know how to resize it. the installer said it would be a couple of weeks till it really looks as good as it will so... I am just wondering how the -15C weather we have had since it got put on is effecting it.

Here is my TL. 3M product covers almost half of the hood, the side mirrors, front bumper, fenders, and underbody lip.. OP is visible at a short distance...

My clearbra will be 3 years old August. My extended piece on my hood will be 1 year old in May. I plan on replacing the bumper and lip peices once I get my bonus. There's some damage I'd like to get rid of... damn rocks! But wait... it's on my film rather than on my paint :)

mine looks like it has alot more than yours but maybe because my car is black. If i did the same type of shots from thoses distances you would see alot of OP, on yours i could not see any, car looks very good by the way!

Thanks. I'll be honest, there's a few bubbles, but you can't see it unless you're right there. If you're unhappy, maybe the company can better explain it to you.
