OP dispenser is SO frustrating

I polished my GTO with Optimum Polish today via PC and a polishing pad. The polish itself worked great, but the dispenser on the bottle has GOT to go. It either spits out a huge blob of polish on the pad or nothing at all (then it's shake, shake, shake) to get it flowing again, just to get another blob. :wall

Like I said, the polish itself worked great and cleared up nicely. I then proceeded to use RMG/YCW/CMW :dance

Huh, I kinda like mine. Mine has a flip top similar to PBs tops, is yours the same?

Yeah, it's the same type as that. It was getting clogged left and right after I would let the bottle set while I buffed a panel. Switching to the Clearkote nozzle afterwards was like heaven on earth after using that thing.

THats odd, speaking of crappy nozzles, PBs sprayers need to go too! They simply couldn't be worse. In fact I'm going to email them about it. Half of the product doesn't even go where you want it!

yes the op cap sucks most of the time the polish starts to come out and then gets clogged. Then you have to shake the sh*ttt out of it. Yeah poorboys spray nozzles suck too, I was so happy when I ordered a bottle of spray and wipe from excel and they sent me a different nozzle. I hope both manufactures see this thread. Chris

Which spray nozzle did you get? From what I understand, they've had 4 different styles. The newest is the type that are on products like E1 stuff, Mother's FX and Reflections, and such. It seems to work well for me so far. (I didn't fall in love with the previous blue topped sprayer with "safety switch.")

I find many of the popular products are easier to use when they are transfered to smaller containers like the 4oz flip-top soft plastic travel-size containers sold at Wal-Mart in the cosmetics section. Easy to open & close with one hand and dispensing just the right amount of product on a foam pad or MF applicator is a snap.

Personally, I found AIO & SG to be the worst because both products are so thin. You have to squeeze the bottle a bit when you pick it up and, if the AIO or SG is new, you can count on sending a geyser of product onto your work bench. Transferring both products to smaller containers made them easier to handle & dispense the small amounts of product that is needed.

I've read somewhere that Poorboy recommended flushing the sprayers with water (cold or warm ... don't remember) after using them or they could clog. I get a cup of warm water, unscrew the sprayer, put the plastic pick-up tube in the water & pull the trigger 10 or 12 times. Never had a problem with S&W, S&G, or BNB. I suspect the wheel cleaner is pretty caustic (never used it) so that sprayer should be flushed each time.

I never use an of my polishes or LSPs out of their bottles. I transfer them to smaller 4oz + bottles. I have no issues with having the squeeze to get the product producing a big glob all over the finish or if some kind of "oops" occurs with the bottle I would probably waste or lose less product than if I were using the full bottle. I easily store my entire arsenal in a plastic tray and can transport all of them for convenience near by while doing "spot maintenance" or a complete detail.

Regardless of what bottle you use, make it a habit to clean out the caps often with alcohol or mineral spirits Allow the solvent to dwell, agitate with a tooth brush, small test tube type brush, and/or toothpick, then flush. This will keep normal clogging issues under control.

I sometimes transfer to smaller bottles for the same reasons as Bill D. I also find that after i am done with the product, i "bump" the bottle on a table a few times to clear the flip top. Btw i love Menzerna flip top bottles.

ya the OPtimum cap sucks big time. I transfer mine into smaller bottle so its not such a PITA. Its pretty hard when you have to use the open bottle without the cap to fill the small bottles though.

Those Meguiar's product dispensers are real nice. They hold 8 oz of product and have a nozzle to squirt out the product.
