ONR vs IUDJ

We sold our house and have moved into an apartment till we find another home. I have been reading up on the waterless wash due to getting tired of going to the coin operated car wash to do a two bucket wash. I have read topics on using ONR and Garry Dean's IUDJ to do a waterless wash on my vehicles at the apartment since I have no access to a garage or water hose connection. Seems ONR is the choice on this site? Any feed back would be great. I have a 08 black Silverado Z71 that could be washed at least twice a week plus my wifes Cruze.

Black Bowtie- Welcome to Autopia!

I haven't used ONR since the last reformulation (the older version messed with some of my waxes so I quit using it).  I do, however, use, and highly recommend IUDJ.  I have zero criticisms of IUDJ, period.

I have not tried IUDJ since I'm in Canada and shipping across border is a big headache.

But I do use ONR and its a popular choice because it is a fairly inexpensive product and a lot of vendors carry ONR.

Hey Black Bowtie,

Welcome!

I use the ONR with the following LSP's...OptiCoat 2.0, Klaase SG, and DooDoo Juice Hard Candy wax with no issues.

I have yet to try the IUDJ.

Try UWW+ if you're concerned about ONR. Obviously its more expensive, but it seems to leave a nicer look if you just planning to do a wash. IUDJ seems too expensive in my opinion.

FWIW, the IUDJ seems to do some kind of "gloss enhancing" thing, enough so that I'm *VERY* surprised and impressed.  I'm experimenting with it as a replacement for my QD-while-drying approach and sometimes also for the mitt/foamgun step (still doing the BHB/foamgun step though, every time) and I gotta say that my vehicles are looking better, a truly noticeable improvement.

Thanks for the input guys! With having a black truck as a dd, and keeping it looking good, I am looking for the most lubrication and know there will be some trial and error. I have some light swirls now that I will need

to correct before winter, so I will test some products before correcting the paint.

I LOVE UWW!!  Great product, leaves a very slick finish, and is very versatile.  Try it.  I think you will like it.  Have not used IUDJ.  Might someday..it will be hard to unseat UWW

I personally love ONRWW. The wax addition leaves the car looking "just waxed" after every wash and it also makes it bead very nicely.

I use ONRWW as a waterless wash and quick detailer too. I find it really flashes off nicely and doesn't streak.

The wife and I have 1 jet black and 2 metallic black vehicles so maintaining them is a chore.

What ratio do you use for the waterless wash solution?  TIA

Well, my "dilution" is by eye and I add enough until my little pump sprayer turns a certain shade of green. It doesn't seem to matter if you add slightly too much and I do like to err on the side of too much because of the fact that I'm not pre-soaking the vehicle and using a grout sponge with a bucket and grit guard like I would with a full ONRWW rinseless wash.

I guess I really should get some measuring cups out there so I know the ratio.

Agree 100%. No need to follow with a QD after using it. Plus at 32:1 its a great glass cleaner and clay lube. I've also noticed that after customers see how easy ONR is to use, next time I go back, they have a quart or gallon (that has been used) in their garage.

Doesn't ONR leave behind a polymer coating after using ? (<span style="font-size:14px;">I'm just talking about the regular version)

<span style="font-size:14px;">Seems like every time<span style="font-size:14px;"> I use it the vehicle noticeably increase in shine and beading.

Fallguy- Yeah, it leaves a little something.

One thing I noticed with the previous version of ONR (the one that was *not* Collinite-friendly) was that it made wheels harder to clean the next time, something about my brake pads' dust and the polymers didn't work out well.  No such problems with IUDJ.

Yes, ONR WW even more so. Either seems to have a cumulative effect.
